Miss Languedoc-Roussillon
Miss Languedoc-Roussillon is a French beauty pageant which selects a representative for the Miss France national competition from the region of Languedoc-Roussillon. The first Miss Languedoc-Roussillon was crowned in 1928, although several women have represented the region with various other titles in the years since. Since 2022, the region has been divided into the individual Miss Languedoc and Miss Roussillon regional pageants. The current Miss Languedoc is Cameron Vallière, who was crowned Miss Languedoc 2022 on 5 August 2022, while the current Miss Roussillon is Chiara Fontaine, who was crowned Miss Roussillon 2022 on 7 August 2022. Beauty Pageant
A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Hundreds and thousands of beauty contests are held annually, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, widely covered and broadcast by media. Miss Universe 1971
Miss Universe 1971 was the 20th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Miami Beach Auditorium in Miami Beach, Florida, United States on 24 July 1971. At the end of the event, Marisol Malaret of Puerto Rico crowned Georgina Rizk of Lebanon as Miss Universe 1971. It is the first victory of Lebanon in the competition. Contestants from 60 countries and territories participated in this year's pageant. The pageant was hosted by Bob Barker in his fifth consecutive year, while June Lockhart provided commentary and analysis throughout the event. Beaucaire, Gard
Beaucaire (; Occitan and Provençal: ''Bèucaire'' ) is a commune in the Gard department in the Occitanie region of Southern France. In 2018, it had a population of 15,718. Its inhabitants are known as ''Beaucairois'' or ''Beaucairoises'' in French. In 2020, the commune was awarded one flower by the National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom in the Competition of cities and villages in Bloom. Geography Beaucaire is located on the River Rhône some 15 km south-west of Avignon and 10 km north of Arles. Across the river from Beaucaire lies Tarascon, which is in Bouches-du-Rhône department of Provence. Access to the commune is by the D999 road from Jonquières-Saint-Vincent in the west which passes through the north of the commune and the town and continues east to Tarascon. Nîmes
Nîmes ( , ; oc, Nimes ; Latin: ''Nemausus'') is the prefecture of the Gard department in the Occitanie region of Southern France. Miss France 2008
Miss France 2008, the 78th edition of the Miss France pageant, was held in Dunkirk, Nord-Pas-de-Calais on December 8, 2007. The ceremony was held at TF1, and was presented by Jean-Pierre Foucault and the Miss France Committee President Geneviève de Fontenay. Valérie Bègue of Réunion was crowned Miss France 2008 by the outgoing title-holder Rachel Legrain-Trapani of Picardy, Miss France 2007. Bègue was originally supposed to represent France at Miss World 2008 and Miss Universe 2008, but she was replaced by 2nd Runner-Up, Laura Tanguy of Pays de Loire after suggestive photos of Bègue were released to the public and Bègue refused to resign. A compromise was reached that allowed her to keep the title of Miss France 2008 but she was barred from crowning her successor the following year and was stripped of her right to represent France at any international beauty pageant. Perpignan
Perpignan (, , ; ca, Perpinyà ; es, Perpiñán ; it, Perpignano ) is the prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France, in the heart of the plain of Roussillon, at the foot of the Pyrenees a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea and the scrublands of the Corbières massif. Miss France 2009, the 62nd edition of the Miss France pageant, was held in Puy du Fou, Pays de la Loire on December 6, 2008. It was the first time that the pageant took place in Puy du Fou and the Pays de la Loire region. Miss World 2017, the 67th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 18 November 2017 at the Sanya City Arena in China. 118 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown.
