Miss Korea 2008
52nd Miss Korea 2008 was a beauty pageant held on July 8, 2008 at Sejong Center, sponsored by the Korean newspaper ''Hankook Ilbo''. Approximately 51 women from around the world competed in Seoul, South Korea and seven were selected by a panel of judges. The first-place winner was Na Ree, crowned by the official last year winner Lee Ji-sun. Na Ree will complete at Miss Universe 2009 in the Bahamas. Additionally, there are two seon(선) finalists (first and second runners-up), first runner-up Choi Bo-in went to Miss World 2008 and the second runner-up Kim Min-jeong went to Miss International 2008. Lastly, fourth runner-up Seo Seol-hee represented Korea in Miss Earth 2008 in Manila, Philippines. (equivalent to semi-finalists) are chosen. Miss Korea ( ko, 미스코리아) is a national beauty pageant in South Korea. Lee Seung-hyeon won the title on October 26, 2022. History The first Miss Korea competition took place in 1957 and was sponsored by the Korean newspaper Hankook Ilbo. Each year, approximately fifty women compete in Seoul, South Korea, and seven are selected by a panel of judges. The winner "Jin" (진) is crowned as the official Miss Korea. Miss Earth 2008, the 8th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 9, 2008, at the Clark Expo Amphitheater in Angeles City, Philippines. Eighty-five delegates arrived from 19 October 2008 in Philippines. The pageant was broadcast live via ABS-CBN and coverage since on Studio 23 in the Philippines and other stations throughout the world. Jessica Trisko of Canada crowned her successor Karla Henry of Philippines the end of the event. Miss International 2008, the 48th Miss International pageant, was held on November 8, 2008 at The Venetian Macao in Macau, the presenters are Eric Tsang, Dodo Cheng, Astrid Chan. 63 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown, marking the biggest turnout in the 48 years of the pageant, surpassing the previous of 61 during last year pageant. Miss World 2008, the 58th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 13 December 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. Originally, the pageant was going to take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, but because of the ongoing 2008 Russo-Georgian diplomatic crisis in neighbouring South Ossetia, the Miss World Organization decided to move the pageant away from Eastern Europe. 109 contestants from all over the world compete for the crown, the second highest turnout in the 59 years of the pageant. Miss Universe 2009 was the 58th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Imperial Ballroom in Atlantis Paradise Island, Nassau, The Bahamas on August 23, 2009. At the end of the event, Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela crowned Stefanía Fernández of Venezuela as Miss Universe 2009.
