Mirza Abdulgadir Vusagi
Mirza Abdulgadir Vusagi or Abdulgadir Ismayilzada (1865, Sayadli village, Khizi district – 1914, Baku) was an Azerbaijani poet and writer. He is the author of the libretto for the operas "Shah Ismail" and " Seyfal mulk", the dramatic creations "Yusif and Zuleikha", "Ali Khan" and "Shahzade Ismail". He is the father of Mikayil Mushfig. Biography and creation Abdulgadir Ismailzada was born in 1865 in Khizi, in the village of Sayadli. His father, Molla Ismayil, was a famous teacher in Khizi. Abdulgadir received his primary education from his father, and for a deeper study of the Arabic language, he studied from kazi of Guba Akhund Zaki. For some time, he taught at his father's school.In 1902, he moved to Baku, where he continued his teaching activity. For a while he taught to Jafar Jabbarli. Khizi District
Khizi District ( az, Xızı rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the east of the country and belongs to the Absheron-Khizi Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Siyazan, Shabran, Quba, Shamakhi, Gobustan, and Absheron-Khizi. Its capital and largest city is Khizi. "Seyfal mulk" ( az, Seyfəl mülk) – is an Azerbaijani opera composed in 1915, by composer Mashadi Jamil Amirov. Mirza Gadir Ismayilzade, known as "Vusagi" (Mikayil Mushfig's father) was the author of a libretto. Mikayil Mushfig
Mikayil Mushfig ( az, Mikayıl Müşfiq, born Mikayil Ismayilzade) (5 June 1908, Baku – 6 January 1938, Baku) was an Azerbaijani poet of the 1930s. Most of his poetry is about romance, nature, feelings. Despite this, he soon became one of the slandered and criticized poets in the Union of Soviet Azerbaijani Writers, and soon afterwards, Mushfig was arrested and executed by Soviet authorities at the age of 30 during the Stalinist purges in the USSR. In 1956, he was exonerated posthumously. Nikita Khrushchev era of de-stalinization has resulted in Mushfig's poetry being famous in Azerbaijani society. Shah Ismayil (opera)
“Shah Ismayil” – is an Azerbaijani mugham opera in 6 acts and 7 scenes composed by Muslim Magomayev (composer), Muslim Magomayev, in 1915-1919. Libretto and text were written by Mirza Abdulgadir Vusagi, Mirza Gadir Ismayilzade basing on a legend about young Ismail I, Shah Ismayil. Premiere of the opera was held in March 1919 in Baku, with a benefit performance of Huseyngulu Sarabski, Huseyngulu Sarabski (Rzayev). Quba
Quba () is a city and the administrative centre of the Quba District of Azerbaijan. The city lies on the north-eastern slopes of Shahdag mountain, at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level, on the right bank of the Kudyal river. It has a population of 38,100 (2010). Jafar Gafar oglu Jabbarly, ( az, Cəfər Qafar oğlu Cabbarlı, 20 March 1899, Khizi – 31 December 1934, Baku) was an Azerbaijani playwright, poet, director and screenwriter. Life After his father's death in 1902, Jabbarli's mother moved to Baku with her four children. In 1915, Jabbarli graduated from high school and studied electromechanics at Baku Polytechnicum for the next 5 years. In 1920 he was admitted to Azerbaijan State University to study applied medicine but due to his lack of interest soon switched to Oriental studies.
