Mirrors (Sandra Album)
''Mirrors'' is the second studio album by German pop singer Sandra, released on 13 October 1986 by Virgin Records. The album spawned the European Top 10 singles "Innocent Love" and "Hi! Hi! Hi!". Background ''Mirrors'' was produced by Michael Cretu and Armand Volker, and continued the synth-pop-oriented style introduced on Sandra's debut album, ''The Long Play'', released the year before. The material was arranged with the use of such synthesizers as Akai S900, PPG, Linn 9000, Prophet 2002, Oberheim Matrix-12, EMS Vocoder, Yamaha DX7 and Roland Super Jupiter. ''Mirrors'' saw more songwriting and singing involvement from Hubert Kemmler, who was already a popular singer in Germany under the name of Hubert Kah. The song "Don't Cry (The Breakup of the World)" was written in reaction to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Four singles were released from this album. Sandra Ann Lauer (born 18 May 1962), commonly known under her stage name Sandra and Sandra Cretu (), is a Franco-German pop singer who enjoyed mainstream popularity in the 1980s and early 1990s with a string of European hit singles, produced by her then-husband and musical partner, Michael Cretu, most notably " (I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena" (1985), " In the Heat of the Night" (1985), " Everlasting Love" (1987), "Secret Land" (1988), "Hiroshima" (1990) and "Don't Be Aggressive" (1992). Yamaha DX7
The Yamaha DX7 is a synthesizer manufactured by the Yamaha Corporation from 1983 to 1989. It was the first successful digital synthesizer and is one of the best-selling synthesizers in history, selling more than 200,000 units. In the early 1980s, the synthesizer market was dominated by analog synthesizers. Frequency modulation synthesis, FM synthesis, a means of generating sounds via frequency modulation, was developed by John Chowning at Stanford University, California. FM synthesis created brighter, "glassier" sounds, and could better imitate acoustic sounds such as brass. Yamaha licensed the technology to create the DX7, combining it with very-large-scale integration chips to lower manufacturing costs. With its complex menus and lack of conventional controls, few learned to program the DX7 in depth. The European Top 100 Albums chart was the European adaptation of the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart. It ran from March 1984 until December 2010. Also commonly referred to as Eurochart Top 100 Albums, the chart showcased the sales of an act in 19 European countries based on IFPI data. The European Top 100 combined album sales (both retail and digital) of new and older albums. The methodology was different from the US ''Billboard'' 200, where albums would only be allowed to chart if they weren't 18 months old. If an album older than 18 months had enough sales to enter the 200 chart after having already dropped out of the 100th position, it would chart on The ''U.S. Billboard'' Catalog Albums. Frank Peterson (born 29 December 1963) is a German music producer known for his work with Enigma and artists such as Sarah Brightman, Ofra Haza, Gregorian, Princessa, and Andrea Bocelli on his first international album, ''Romanza''. Peterson was born in Hamburg. As a child, he taught himself to play the piano and keyboard, going on to work in a music store. It was here that he met Michael Cretu and became lead keyboardist for Sandra, appearing prominently on her hit single "Maria Magdalena".
