Mirijam Contzen
Mirijam Contzen (born in 1976) is a German-Japanese violinist. Life and career Born in Münster, Contzen grew up in Lünen. She began her studies at the Musikhochschule Detmold in 1984 and from 1988 she was a master student of the violin teacher Tibor Varga (1921–2003) from Hungary. Since 2005 she has been artistic director of the annual International Chamber Music Festival Schloss Cappenberg, which takes place every summer at Cappenberg Castle. Lünen
Lünen is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located north of Dortmund, on both banks of the River Lippe. It is the largest town of the Unna district and part of the Ruhr Area. In 2009 a biogas plant was built to provide electric power to the city. Lünen is the first city in the world to receive electricity via public utility companies that is generated on the base of animal waste. Tibor Varga (violinist)
Tibor Varga (4 July 1921 – 4 September 2003) was a Hungarian violinist, conductor, and world renowned music teacher who developed pedagogic methods for teaching string music. He was a founding member of the string department in the Detmold music conservatory. Early life Varga was born in Győr, Hungary, in the same region that witnessed the birth of Joseph Joachim, Leopold Auer, Carl Flesch as well as of the famous conductor Hans Richter. Young Varga took his first lessons at the age of two and a half with his father Lajos Varga, who was also a violinist. Due to an injury during the War, Lajos Varga had to abandon his projects to be a concert artist and became a violin maker. Cappenberg Castle
Cappenberg Castle (german: Schloss Cappenberg) is a former Premonstratensian monastery, Cappenberg Abbey (german: Kloster Cappenberg) in Cappenberg, a part of Selm, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It stands on an elevation, the Cappenberg, near Lünen and Werne, and is a vantage point offering views over the eastern Ruhrgebiet. Sebastian Manz
Sebastian Manz (born 1986) is a German clarinetist. Life and work Sebastian Manz was born in Hanover and son of pianist Wolfgang Manz and Julia Goldstein and grandson of the Russian violinist Boris Goldstein, began studying clarinet at Musikhochschule Lübeck in 1997. He won first place in ''Jugend musiziert'' in 1994 and 1999–2003. He was the first clarinetist in 40 years to win first prize in the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 2008. In the same year, Manz and his partner on piano Martin Klett as "Duo Riul" won the first prize in of the German national competition Deutscher Musikwettbewerb.
