Mira Bhaindar Assembly constituency is one of the 288 Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India. Overview Mira Bhayandar constituency is one of the 18 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in Thane district. It comprises part of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation and part of Thane tehsil of the district. Geeta Bharat Jain
Geeta Bharat Jain (born 5 July 1964) is an Indian politician representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. She won election as an independent candidate. She afterwards gave support to the Shiv Sena-led government. After one year, she joined Shiv Sena. She is member of the 14th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Mira Bhayandar constituency. She served as a Mayor of the city of Mira-Bhayandar from February 2015 to August 2017. After increasing internal conflicts in Shiv Sena, on 22 June 2022 she rejoined the BJP. Early life Jain was born in Mumbai and raised in Mumbai suburb Andheri. She graduated from PVT Polytechnic College, Mumbai with a Diploma of Medical Laboratory Technology in 1984. Mira-Bhayandar is administered by Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), with a population at the 2011 Census of 814,655. Mira-Bhayandar is a part of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). History The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal council was formed on 12 June 1985 by incorporating all the village Gram Panchayats. Shiv Sena (IAST: ''Śiva Sēnā'') () was a right-wing to far-right Marathi regionalist and Hindu ultranationalist political party in India founded in 1966 by cartoonist Bal Thackeray. Originally emerging from nativist movements in Bombay (present-day Mumbai), the party agitated for preferential treatment for the Marathi people over migrants from other parts of India. 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Election
The 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 21 October 2019 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. After a 61.4% turnout in the election, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SHS) won a majority. Following differences over the government formation, the alliance was dissolved, precipitating a political crisis. 2014 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Election
The Indian state of Maharashtra has a bicameral legislature, comprising two houses. The Nationalist Congress Party ( NCP) is one of the nine national parties in India. The party generally supports Indian nationalism and Gandhian secularism.
