Minkivka
Minkivka ( uk, Міньківка) is a village located in Bakhmut Raion of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is located northwest of Bakhmut, on the M03 highway. History On 5 January 2015, there was a fatal vehicle accident involving local Ukrainian military units near Minkivka, in which a bus of soldiers collided with a military truck. Vyacheslav Abroskin, head of the Donetsk Oblast branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the cause of the crash was weather conditions: namely ice and poor visibility. 12 soldiers died and 22 were injured. Abroskin said an investigation was taking place. On 14 March 2023, during the battle of Bakhmut of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Minkivka was the last settlement under Ukrainian control on the M03 highway. On 26 August 2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the Ukrainian military engaged in unsuccessful operations near the village. Soledar urban hromada () is a hromada of Ukraine, located in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast. Its administrative center is the city Soledar. It has an area of and a population of 20,581, as of 2018. It was formed on 15 September 2016 by merging local city and village councils in Bakhmut Raion. Battle Of Bakhmut
The Battle of Bakhmut is an ongoing series of military engagements in and near the city of Bakhmut between Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Russian Armed Forces during the larger battle for Donbas. Shelling of Bakhmut began in May 2022, but the main assault towards the city began on 1 August after Russian forces advanced from the Popasna direction after a Ukrainian withdrawal from that front. The main assault force primarily consists of mercenaries from the Russian paramilitary organization Wagner Group, supported by regular Russian troops and DPR and LPR separatist elements. Highway M03 (Ukraine)
Highway M03 is a Ukrainian international highway ( M-highway) connecting Kyiv with Dovzhansky on the border with Russia, where it continues into Russia as the A270. It is part of European route E40 from Kyiv to Debaltseve at which it is part of European route E50 to the border with Russia. At , the M03 is the longest international state highway in Ukraine. In Soviet times the M03 was part of the M19. Today, the highway stretches through five oblasts and ends at the border checkpoint at Dovzhansky which is part of Sverdlovsk Raion (Luhansk Oblast). The route connects Kyiv and Kharkiv with the industrial region of Donbass. Part of the M03 between Kyiv and Boryspil was reconstructed into an automagistral to handle higher traffic between Kyiv and the Boryspil International Airport.
