The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services is a Ministry (government department), ministry in Zambia. It is headed by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services. The ministry controls two publicly owned newspapers, the Times of Zambia and the Zambia Daily Mail, and has a seat on the board of the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation. Patriotic Front (Zambia)
The Patriotic Front (PF) is a social democratic political party in Zambia. The party was formed by Michael Sata as a breakaway party of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) in 2001 after the President Frederick Chiluba nominated Levy Mwanawasa as its presidential candidate for 2001 elections. The party's main base of support are usually the youth and poor people in urban centres (although this support wavered starting in 2021), as well as members of the Bemba people in Copperbelt Province and Lusaka Province. After several years, the PF gained power in the 2011 general elections, and governed until the 2021 elections. Formation The Patriotic Front was formed as a political party in 2001. In 2000, after Chiluba lost a bid to change the constitution to allow him to stand for third term, Michael Sata thought he would be endorsed as the MMD presidential candidate. Given Lubinda
Given Lubinda is a Zambian politician who served in the Cabinet of Zambia as Minister of Justice. He is a former Member of Parliament for the National Assembly of Zambia for Kabwata Constituency in Lusaka. He was first elected as Kabwata MP in 2001 under the UPND ticket and was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2013. Following the retirement of Edgar Lungu from active politics, Given Lubinda is the current acting president of the former ruling party, the Patriotic Front as of 2021. Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha (born December 25, 1947) is the former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services of Zambia. Early life Political career He held that post from 2008 until his party, the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD,) lost the elections to the Patriotic Front in September 2011. A retired Lt General of the Zambia Air Force, he was previously the home affairs minister of Zambia, from February 9, 2003, until January 2005, when he switched positions with Kalombo Mwansa in a cabinet reshuffle and became foreign minister. Mike Mulongoti
Mike Mulongoti (born 3 August 1951, died 2 May 2019) was a Zambian politician who served as the president of the People's Party. Career Zambian Parliament Mulongoti earned a Masters of Business Administration prior to his career in politics. He joined the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy and served as Deputy Minister of Defense. He was subsequently one of 22 ministers who were fired for opposing an amendment to the Constitution to extend President Frederick Chiluba's tenure. Mulongoti was a founding member of the Forum for Democracy and Development and contested the 2001 general elections. Mulongoti was later appointed as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services and Minister of Works and Supply under presidents Levy Mwanawasa and Rupiah Banda. W.K. Mutale Nalumango (born 1 January 1955) is an educator and politician who is the 14th and current vice president of Zambia, the second woman to hold the position. She previously served as vice-president of the Secondary Schools’ Teachers Union of Zambia before resigning to begin her political career in 2001. She first became a member of the National Assembly in 2001 as a member of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy, representing the Kaputa Constituency. Vernon Johnson Mwaanga (born 1944) is a Zambian diplomat and politician. Life Born near Choma, Mwaanga studied political science and international relations in the United Kingdom. In October 1964 he became Zambia's first diplomat, as deputy high commissioner in London. Amusaa Katunda Mwanamwambwa (born 15 May 1940) is a Zambian former politician. He was a member of the National Assembly for Liuwa between 1991 and 1998, also holding several ministerial posts.
