Ministry Of Health (Ethiopia)
The Ministry of Health (MoH) ( am, ጤና ሚኒስቴር) is a federal government ministry of Ethiopia, responsible for public health concerns. Its head office is on Sudan Street in Addis Ababa. Until 2020, Amir Aman is the director. Lia Tadesse has been the head of the ministry since 2020. The organization is a cabinet level organization which has authority over the Public Health Institute. History The Ministry of Public Health was created in 1948 followed by Proclamation issued in 1946. The Public Health Administration shortly transferred to the Ministry of Public Health. In recent years, the ministry promotes family planning programs introduced contraceptives, giving women a choice over their sexual and reproductive health while combatting child marriage and harmful practice in Ethiopia. Lia Tadesse
Lia Tadesse Gebremedhin ( am, ሊያ ታደሰ ገብረመድኅን; born 1976) is an Ethiopian politician and physician serving as the current Minister of Health since March 2020. Prior to her appointment, Lia served as State Minister of Health from November 2018. She also served as an Executive Director at the University of Michigan's Center for International Reproductive Health Training (CIRHT) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as a CEO and Vice Provost in St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) in Addis Ababa and as a Project Director of USAID's Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) at Jhpiego-Ethiopia. It is also served as major administrative center of the Oromia Region. In the 2007 census, the city's population was estimated to be 2,739,551 inhabitants. The Ministry of Peace is an Ethiopian government ministry created in 2018 that aims to encourage peace processes to prevent and resolve armed conflict in Ethiopia and to support equitable development among the Regions of Ethiopia. Creation The Ministry of Peace evolved from the Ministry of Federal Affairs, established in 2001, which initially was responsible for "regional affairs" and "urban development". In 2005, urban development was removed from the ministry's tasks. In 2009, the ministry gained more powers in handling religions, with the aim of encouraging tolerance between people of different religions.
