The Financial Secretary of Ceylon was an officer of the Ceylonese Government and member of the Board of Ministers. The Treasurer of Ceylon was one of six offices that held a seat in the Executive Council of Ceylon from 1809 to 1932. The post was replaced by the that of Financial Secretary in 1932, as one of three officers of state of the new Board of Ministers that replaced the Executive Council under recommendations of the Donoughmore Commission. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. Arthur Godwin Ranasinha
Sir Arthur Godwin Ranasinha, CMG, CBE, CCS (24 June 189819 June 1976) was a Sri Lankan civil servant and statesmen. A career civil servant in the Ceylon Civil Service, he served as Secretary to the Treasury, Cabinet Secretary and Governor of the Central Bank of Ceylon before apportionment as a Cabinet Minister and Senator. He had also served as Ceylon's Ambassador to Italy. Education Ranasinghe was educated at S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Theodore Duncan Perera
Theodore Duncan Perera, CMG (born 28 May 1895) was a Ceylonese civil servant who served as the Secretary of the Treasury from December 1950 to March 1951 and Deputy High Commissioner for Ceylon in the United Kingdom. Graduated with an LL.B. from the University of London, Perera joined the Ceylon Civil Service in August 1919. Following his cadetship in Kurunagala and Jaffna, he served the early part of his career as a police magistrate in several locations of the island. Perera served as the Assistant Controller of Stamps and Assistant Colonial Secretary in the 1920's and in 1931 he was appointed as the Secretary to the first Minister of Agriculture and Lands, D. S. Sir Charles Ernest Jones, CMG, CCS (1892–1953) was a British colonial civil servant. He had a long career in the Ceylon Civil Service and served as Secretary to the Treasury. Life He was the only son of Edwin Harris Jones R.N. of Drayton, Hampshire. He was educated at Portsmouth Technical College, and graduated B.A. from the University of London in 1911, B.Sc. in 1913. Ceylon Civil Service
The Ceylon Civil Service, popularly known by its acronym CCS, was the premier civil service of the Government of Ceylon under British colonial rule and in the immediate post-independence period. Established in 1833, it functioned as part of the executive administration of the country to various degrees until Ceylon gained self-rule in 1948.
