Ministry Of National Planning And Economic Development
The Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development ( my, အမျိုးသားစီမံကိန်းနှင့် စီးပွားရေး ဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်မှု ဝန်ကြီးဌာန; abbreviated MNPED) administers Burma's economic development and national planning policies. MNPED is currently led by Kan Zaw, who was appointed by President Thein Sein on 7 September 2012. Prior to his appointment, he had been serving as a deputy minister since March 2011. Tun Tin
Thura U Tun Tin ( my, ထွန်းတင်, ; 2 October 1920 – 1 May 2020) was a Burmese politician who served as Prime Minister of Burma from 1988 to 1990. Biography He was born in Myitkyina in October 1920. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Mandalay College in 1941. He was a ''Thakin'' of Do-Bama-Asiayone and student underground movement leader against the British. In 1942 he joined the Burma Independence Army and attended officer training school (3rd batch) during Japanese occupation of Burma. He continued to serve in Burma army after its independence from the British. He was awarded "Thura" title for his bravery during Battle of Insein against the Karen insurgency in 1949. Soe Win ( my, စိုးဝင်း ; born 13 December 1938) is the former Minister for Planning and Finance of Myanmar (Burma). He is a financial professional and previously served as the managing partner of Deloitte in Myanmar. Early life and education Soe Win was born in Moulmein, British Burma (now Mawlamyaing, Myanmar) on 13 December 1938 to parents U Tin and Daw Ngwe Pwint. He possesses BA, LLB and DMA qualifications. Win Tin ( my, ဝင်းတင်, , 12 March 1929 – 21 April 2014) was a Burmese journalist, politician and political prisoner. He co-founded the National League for Democracy (NLD). He was imprisoned by the military government for 19 years (1989–2008) for his writings and his leadership position in the NLD. Early life and education He attended Myoma High School in Yangon. David Oliver Abel ( my, ဒေးဗစ် အေဘယ်လ်; 28 February 1935 – 18 January 2019) was a Burmese economist, retired Brigadier General in the Myanmar Army and former cabinet minister. He served variously as Minister of Commerce, Minister of Finance and Revenue, and Minister of National Planning and Economic Development. At one time, he ran all three ministries simultaneously.
