Ministry Of Legal Affairs
The Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs (MJLA) ( ar, وزراة العدل والشؤون القانونية) was the governmental body in the Sultanate of Oman that is responsible for drafting legislation and providing other government bodies with legal advice. It was a distinct body from the Ministry of Justice and the Public Prosecution, and they were both merged into the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs in August 2020. The last Minister of Legal Affairs was Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Said Al Saeedi and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Legal Affairs was Yahya bin Nasser bin Mansoor Al Khusaibi. Establishment The Ministry of Legal Affairs was founded in 1994 by Royal Decree 2/94. Abdullah Al Saidi
Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saidi "عبدالله بن محمد السعيدي" is the current Legal Affairs Minister of the Sultanate of Oman and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Charitable Organization. He has been the Minister of Legal Affairs since March 7, 2011. Prior to his appointment as the Minister of Legal Affairs, Dr Al Saidi worked as an advocate in a private practice. Yahya bin Nasser bin Mansoor Al Khusaibi is the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman. The ''Official Gazette'' ( ar, الجريدة الرسمية ') is a weekly publication issued by the Ministry of Legal Affairs in pursuance of the Law of the Official Gazette issued by Royal Decree 84/2011. History The Official Gazette was first established by Law No. 3/72 which stipulated the release of the Official Gazette on Thursday of every week. This law was later repealed by Law No. 4/73 which stipulated the release of the Official Gazette on bi-weekly basis.
