Ministers Of The Burundian Government
The Council of Ministers of Burundi are the senior level of the executive branch of Burundi and consists of the Prime Minister of Burundi and various Ministers. The 2018 constitution, which enshrines ethnically-based power-sharing, requires that at most 60% of ministers come from the ethnic Hutu majority and at most 40% hail from the Tutsi minority. At least 30% of government ministers must be women. The members of the council are directly appointed by the President in consultation with the Vice-President and Prime minister. The current council of ministers commenced on 28 June 2020 and was President Évariste Ndayishimiye's first cabinet. Pontien Gaciyubwenge
Pontien Gaciyubwenge (born 1956) is a Burundian politician and soldier. He served as Minister of National Defence in the government of President Pierre Nkurunziza from 30 August 2010 until he was fired on 18 May 2015, after a failed coup d'état took place. Life Gaciyubwenge was born in Mwaro in 1956. He obtained higher military education in Bujumbura from 1977 to 1982 and received additional training in the United States. Gaciyubwenge subsequently held command over groups, battalions and military regions until he was named director of planning. On 30 August 2010, while holding the rank of major general, he was appointed Minister of Defence in a cabinet reshuffle. Victoire Ndikumana (born 1957) is a Burundian politician for the UPRONA party. She was Minister of Women's Advancement and Social Protection from 1991 to 1993, and Minister of Trade, Industry, Posts and Tourism from 2010 to 2014.
