The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure (formerly the Ministry of Public Works) is the minister of the South African government with political responsibility for South Africa's Department of Public Works. The present minister is Patricia de Lille, who was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 30 May 2019. The ministry was created after the creation of the Union of South Africa as a British dominion in 1910. The flag of South Africa was designed in March 1994 and adopted on 27 April 1994, at the beginning of South Africa's South African general election, 1994, 1994 general election, to replace the flag that had been used since 1928. The flag has horizontal bands of red (on the top) and blue (on the bottom), of equal width, separated by a central green band which splits into a horizontal "Y" shape, the arms of which end at the corners of the hoist side (and follow the flag's diagonals). Leon Wessels
Leon Wessels (born 19 April 1946) is a South African lawyer, politician, and activist who served in the National Party government during the apartheid years and was one of very few Afrikaner politicians to show public contrition for the acts of that government. Thembelani Waltermade Nxesi (born 1 January 1959), popularly known as Thulas Nxesi, is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, he is the Minister of Employment and Labour. He was previously Minister of Public Works, Minister of Sports and Recreation, served a different term as Minister of Public Works, and was Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform. Gwendoline Lindiwe "Gwen" Mahlangu-Nkabinde (born 16 August 1955) is a South African politician who was Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2008 to 2009. Angela Thoko Didiza (born 2 June 1965) is a South African politician currently serving as Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development. Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki KStJ (; born 18 June 1942) is a South African politician who was the second president of South Africa from 14 June 1999 to 24 September 2008, when he resigned at the request of his party, the African National Congress (ANC). Princess Stella Sigcau (4 or 14 January 1937 in Lusikisiki – 7 May 2006 in Durban) was a Minister in the South African Government. Sigcau was also the first female Prime Minister of the bantustan of Transkei before being deposed in a military coup in 1987.
