Minister Of Justice (Sri Lanka)
The Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms is an appointment in the Cabinet of Sri Lanka. The constitution defines that it is mandatory for a minister of the cabinet to be styled as the Minister of Justice. From 1947 to 1970, per section 48 of the constitution, the Minister of Justice was one of two Ministers appointed from the Senate of Ceylon, as such appointments have been held by Advocates. It succeeded the office of Legal Secretary of Ceylon which existed from 1932 to 1947. Harold Herath
Deshabandu James Edward Herath Herald known as Harold Herath (10 March 1930 – 31 August 2007) was a senior Sri Lankan politician and Cabinet Minister. Herath was most notably Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Ranasinghe Premadasa from 1991 to 1993. He entered Parliament winning the Nattandiya electorate in the Puttalam Electoral District 1977, and held his seat until 2000 retiring not contesting the 2001 parliamentary election. He has also held the portfolios of Minister of Justice and Minister of Coconut Development. In 2005 Harold Herath was conferred the national honour and title Deshabandu by President Chandrika Kumaratunga. Harold Herath died on 31 August 2007 after a brief illness, he was 77. Abdul Cader Shahul Hameed
Abdul Cader Shahul Hameed (10 April 1927 – 3 September 1999) was a Sri Lankan diplomat and prominent political figure. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka from 1977 to 1989; and from 1993 to 1994. In the intervening period he was Minister of Justice & Higher Education of Sri Lanka. Born on 10 April 1927 in Kurugoda, Akurana, he was educated at St. Anthony's College, Katugastota; Vijay College, Matale and Zahira College, Matale. Joining the United National Party in 1956 and contested the March 1960 general election from Akurana and was elected to parliament. He was re-elected in all the consecutive elections and in 1970 changed his electorate to Harispattuwa and was re-elected until his death. Deshamanya Nissanka Parakrama Wijeyeratne ( si, නිශ්ශංක පරාක්රම විජයරත්න) (14 June 1924 – 7 January 2007), known as ''Nissanka Wijeyeratne'', was a Sri Lankan politician, civil servant, diplomat and English language poet.
