Mimi Wikstedt
Marie "Mimmi" Wikstedt (born 30 April 1954) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. Biography Wikstedt, who is known by her nickname "Mimmi", was born in Stockholm. She began competing in the early 1970s and made her debut for the Sweden Fed Cup team in 1973. Most of her Fed Cup matches came in doubles. Her best grand slam performances came on the grass courts at Wimbledon. She made the mixed doubles quarter-finals with Ernie Ewert in 1975, won the Wimbledon Plate in 1976, reached the women's doubles quarter-finals with Jane Stratton in 1977 and made the third round of the singles in 1979. At the 1979 Australian Open she was quarter-finalist in the women's doubles partnering Renata Tomanova. From the late 1970s she competed on the WTA Tour, most prominently as a doubles player. Ernie Ewert, Jr. (born 5 June 1954) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Biography Born in Melbourne in 1954, Ewert Jr was the son of a butcher, Ernie Ewert Sr, who went on to become a successful horse trainer. Beginning on the professional circuit at the end of 1971, Ewert was coached by seven-time grand slam champion Mervyn Rose. During his career he competed in the main draw of all four grand slam tournaments. At the 1973 Wimbledon Championships he made the third round, with wins over Konstantin Pugaev and Mike Machette. Katja Ebbinghaus (née Burgemeister, born 6 January 1948) is a former professional tennis player from Germany, active from 1969 to 1982. She reached five Grand Slam quarterfinals in singles, and a Grand Slam final in doubles, and played for West Germany in the Federation Cup in all but two years between 1970 and 1979. Career Ebbinghaus reached the final of the women's doubles at the 1974 French Open, partnering Gail Chanfreau. In the final, Chris Evert and Olga Morozova defeated them 6–4, 2–6, 6–1. The WTA Austrian Open is a WTA Tour affiliated women's tennis tournament held off and on from 1968. In the Open Era, seven locations hosted the event: Pörtschach in 1968 and 1999; Kitzbühel from 1969 to 1983 and from 1990 to 1993; Vienna in 1979 and from 2001 to 2004; Bregenz from 1985 to 1986; Maria Lankowitz from 1994 to 1998, Klagenfurt in 2000 and Bad Gastein from 2007 to 2015 where it took place as Nürnberger Gastein Ladies. The tournament which is held on outdoor clay courts was not contested in 1984, 1987 to 1989 and from 2005 to 2006. Båstad () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Båstad Municipality, Scania County, Sweden, with approximately 5,000 permanent residents. Christine O'Neil (born 19 March 1956) is an Australian former professional tennis player. O'Neil is best known for her singles victory at the 1978 Australian Open, and was the last Australian to win the title until Ashleigh Barty in 2022. She also became the first unseeded woman to win the title in the Open era. O'Neil is also one of the few players who have won both the Australian Open junior (1973) and senior (1978) titles. The 1978 WTA Christchurch (sponsored as the Colgate International) was a tennis tournament organised for female professional tennis players. It was the 3rd edition of the WTA Christchurch tournament, and the 1st since 1972, as it was cancelled during 1972–77, and this was the first time the event was a professional tournament and offered prize money and ranking points, upgraded from the non-tour event in the first two editions. Although held from 20–26 November 1978, it was part of the 1979 women's tennis season.
