"Million Man" is a song by Australian alternative rock group The Rubens. The song was released on 27 October 2017 as the lead single from the group's third studio album, '' Lo La Ru''. The song was certified gold in Australia in March 2019. Frontman Sam Margin sings lead vocals for the majority of the song, whilst keyboardist Elliott Margin sings lead vocals during the post-chorus section and backing vocals throughout the remainder of the song. At the APRA Music Awards of 2019, the song was nominated for Rock Work of the Year. Background and release The song was recorded in a former World War II communications bunker in Sydney's south west and was by brothers Torbitt and Wilder Schwartz, who they met after befriending them at a Laneway Festival back in 2013. The Rubens
The Rubens are an Australian alternative rock band from Menangle, New South Wales. The band comprises the three Margin brothers, Zaac, Sam and Elliott, and friends Scott Baldwin and William Zeglis. Their debut self-titled album ''The Rubens'' gained them domestic success with it reaching number 3 on the ARIA Charts and being nominated for a J Award for Album of the Year. ''Lo La Ru'' (stylised in all caps) is the third studio album by Australian alternative rock group, The Rubens. The album was released on 29 June 2018. Ruben Elliott Margin told Triple J ''Lo La Ru'' is the name of the world that The Rubens built to make this album. "We came up with this idea of creating a fake nation behind this album. Because we'd created our own little world; brought these producers over from New York, had a studio in our hometown, owhatever we'd like to do and have fun doing it." They even gave the fictional nation a flag, which became the album's artwork. In August 2018, the group announced a 12-date national "Lo La Ru" tour, which expanded to a 16-date tour in September. The tour commenced in Brunswick Heads, New South Wales on 2 November. "Never Ever" is a song by Australian alternative rock group The Rubens featuring Sarah. The song was released on 13 April 2018 as the second single from the group's third studio album, '' Lo La Ru''. Background and release The Rubens received an email from Sarah Aarons who advised she was going to be in Sydney, was a fan of theirs and was keen to write a song with them. At that time, the group were putting the finishing touches on the album that would become ''Lo La Ru''. The Rubens keyboardist Elliott Margin said "The day we met Sarah in the studio, she told us that her year 10 teacher introduced her to our song "Lay It Down" and that is what inspired her to do music in year 11 and 12". The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music listener poll hosted by the publicly-funded, national Australian youth radio station, Triple J. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite Australian and alternative music of the year in an online poll conducted two weeks prior to the new year. From 1989 to 2018, the 100 most popular songs were counted down from 12 pm on Australia Day. Since then, the countdown has been held on the fourth weekend of January, due to increasing controversy about Australia Day regarding its marking of the colonisation of Australia and dispossession of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.
