Miles Barne (politician Born 1746)
Miles Barne (22 May 1746 – 8 September 1825) was a British Member of Parliament for Dunwich, a Pocket Borough in the county of Suffolk, between 1791 and 1796 and High Sheriff of Suffolk from 1790 to 1791. Barne's father had established himself as co-proprietor of the Borough and controlled one seat; on his father's death, Barne declined to fill the vacancy, and so it went to his younger brother instead. However, in 1791, his brother resigned and Barne reluctantly took up the seat, serving until 1796. Early life and legal career Barne was the first son of Miles Barne of Sotterley, a Member of Parliament for Dunwich, and the only with his first wife, Elizabeth Elwick, daughter of Nathaniel Elwick of May Place, Kent, a Governor of Madras. He was admitted at Peterhouse, Cambridge in 1762 and matriculated in 1763, before being admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1764. Barne Barne (25 August 1754 – 19 June 1828) was a British land-owner and a Member of Parliament for the Pocket Borough of Dunwich, in Suffolk, between 1777 and 1791. Barne's father had established himself as co-proprietor of the Borough and controlled one seat; on his father's death in 1777, Barne's eldest brother declined to fill the vacancy and so Barne accepted the offer, hoping to obtain, by voting with the administration, a paid office. Snowdon Barne (26 December 1756 – 3 July 1825) was a lawyer and a British Member of Parliament, who represented the Dunwich seat from 1796 to 1812. Family and early career Born on 26 December 1756, he was the third son of Miles Barne of Sotterley, Suffolk, and his second wife, Mary Thornhill, a daughter of George Thornhill of Diddington, Huntingdonshire.Stokes (1986) He was educated at Westminster School and then matriculated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, in 1776, gaining LL.B. in 1781 and then becoming a fellow in 1786. He was admitted at the Inner Temple on 11 June 1773 and then migrated to the Middle Temple at that date in 1782, having been called to the Bar in 1781, from which time he began practising on the Western circuit. He later became a Bencher of the Inner Temple, in 1816. Joshua Vanneck, 1st Baron Huntingfield
Joshua Vanneck, 1st Baron Huntingfield (31 December 1745 – 15 August 1816), known as Sir Joshua Vanneck, 3rd Baronet, from 1791 to 1796, was a British merchant and Member of Parliament. Huntingfield was the second son of the London merchant Sir Joshua Vanneck, 1st Baronet, and Mary Anne Daubuz. The family was of Dutch origin. He was educated at Eton and then became a merchant in London like his father. In 1774 Alexander Fordyce was forced to sell his splendid estate in Roehampton to Joshua Vanneck. After 1777 Grove House, Roehampton was rebuilt by James Wyatt and Robert Adam. In 1790 he succeeded his elder brother as Member of Parliament for Dunwich, a seat he held until 1816, and in 1791 he also succeeded him as third Baronet, inheriting Heveningham Hall in Suffolk. William Pitt The Younger
William Pitt the Younger (28 May 175923 January 1806) was a British statesman, the youngest and last prime minister of Great Britain (before the Acts of Union 1800) and then first prime minister of the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Ireland) as of January 1801. He left office in March 1801, but served as prime minister again from 1804 until his death in 1806. He was also Chancellor of the Exchequer for all of his time as prime minister.
