Milbourne is a village and former civil parish from Morpeth, now in the parish of Ponteland, in the county of Northumberland, England. In 1951 the parish had a population of 70. Milbourne has a church called Holy Saviour. History The name "Milbourne" means 'Mill stream'. From 1866 Milbourne was a civil parish in its own right until it was merged with Ponteland on 1 April 1955. Milbourne, Wiltshire
Milbourne is a hamlet on the eastern edge of Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England. It is within the civil parish of St Paul Malmesbury Without. The hamlet consists of older houses, mainly built in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, strung out along Milbourne Lane, as well as more modern houses at the entrance to the hamlet, at Milbourne Park and at Monks Park. The older houses tend to be set back from the road, as much of what are now front gardens were wide verges forming common grazing land prior to the Enclosures Act. In the later 17th century the Oxford–Bristol road ran east–west through Milbourne and Malmesbury but this later became a minor road, which in 1973 was severed by the A429 Malmesbury bypass. Milbourne Lodge School is a co-educational pre-prep and preparatory school for children aged four to thirteen. Located in Esher, Surrey, the school is housed in a Victorian mansion situated on of Surrey countryside. History Milbourne Lodge was founded in 1912 by Harvey Wyatt, who established the school in Arbrook Lane, Surrey. The school is situated on its original site, with the preparatory year groups occupying the original school building and the pre-preparatory year groups taught in what was previously the Headmaster's house. Milbourne Christopher (23 March 1914 – 17 June 1984) was a prominent American illusionist, magic historian, and author. President of the Society of American Magicians, an honorary vice-president to The Magic Circle, and one of the founding members of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, Christopher wrote a number of books, including a biography of Harry Houdini titled ''Houdini: The Untold Story,'' a chronicle of his own craft titled ''The Illustrated History Of Magic,'' and thousands of essays relating to magic and mentalism. Henry Milbourne
Henry Milbourne, also Milburne or Milborne, (circa 1600 – after 1692) was a Welsh magistrate who served as the Recorder of Monmouth and as agent to the Duke of Beaufort. Biography Milbourne hailed from Wonastow, near Monmouth, South Wales and reportedly had his seat at Wonastow Court. He is also linked to the village of Clytha. He was the uncle of William Milbourne (c.1633–1660), also of Wonastow, and in 1658, William is recorded as entering his uncle's chambers at the Middle Temple. He was also the great uncle of the MP Clayton Milbourne (aft. 1676–1726). Milbourne served as a steward at the Jesuit college at The Cwm which was owned by the Worcester Estate, in the parish of Llanrothal, Herefordshire in the 1670s. Luke Milbourne or Milbourn (1649–1720) was an English clergyman, known as a High Church supporter of Henry Sacheverell, and also as a critic and poet. Life He was the son of Luke Milbourne (1622–1668), an ejected minister who was the incumbent of Wroxhall, Warwickshire, where he was born. His mother's name was Phœbe. The antiquarian John Nelson states that the family lived at Newington Green, well known for its dissenting academies, where they kept a boarding school; Phoebe taught, because her husband was barred from doing so.
