Milan Blažeković
Milan Blažeković (6 July 1940 – 30 May 2019) was a Croatian animator. Blažeković began his career at the Zagreb Film studio with "mini" short films such as ''The Fish'', ''Ikarus'', ''Vergl'' and ''Gorilla Dance'' (1968), ''The Man Who Had To Sing, The Man Who Had to Sing'' (October 1971) and ''Man: The Polluter'' (August 8, 1973), the latter for the National Film Board of Canada. In later years, he directed three children's films with the animation unit of Croatia Film: ''The Elm-Chanted Forest'' (June 19, 1986), ''The Magician's Hat (film), The Magician's Hat'' (January 1, 1990) and ''Lapitch the Little Shoemaker'' (October 23, 1997). By around 2000, Blažeković ended his partnership with Croatia Film, and returned to Zagreb Film to work on a fourth animated feature, ''Tales of Long Ago'' (''Priče iz davnine''), which was initially planned for a Christmas 2003 release. Animator
An animator is an artist who creates multiple images, known as frames, which give an illusion of movement called animation when displayed in rapid sequence. Animators can work in a variety of fields including film, television, and video games. Animation is closely related to filmmaking and like filmmaking is extremely labor-intensive, which means that most significant works require the collaboration of several animators. The methods of creating the images or frames for an animation piece depend on the animators' artistic styles and their field. Zagreb Film is a Croatian film company principally known for its animation studio. From Zagreb, it was founded in 1953. They have produced hundreds of animated films, as well as documentaries, television commercials, educational films and several feature films. Zagreb Film produced the cartoon series ''Professor Balthazar'' ( hr, Profesor Baltazar), created by Zlatko Grgić, about an amusing professor who solved various imaginative problems. ''The Elm-Chanted Forest'' (''Čudesna šuma'') is a 1986 Croatian-American animated musical film; in the U.S., it is also known as ''Fantasy Forest''. Story Thistle the magician teams up with his animal friends, along with some fairies and a volcano-dwelling dragon, to rescue their forest from the wrath of the Ice Emperor Frostkill (Car Mrazomor) and his army of icy ghost witches. Release In late 2007, both this film and its predecessor, ''The Elm-Chanted Forest'', received their DVD debut in the countries of former Yugoslavia from Happy TV. ''Lapitch the Little Shoemaker'' ( hr, Čudnovate zgode šegrta Hlapića) is a 1997 animation, animated feature that was originally released by Croatia Film. Produced on vintage (design), vintage cel equipment during the early 1990s, this was the third feature from Croatia Film's animation unit and director Milan Blažeković, after ''The Elm-Chanted Forest'' (1986) and ''The Magician's Hat (film), The Magician's Hat'' (1990). It is based on ''The Brave Adventures of Lapitch'', a 1913 novel by Croatian author Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić. In this adaptation, all of the character (arts), characters are animals, and the title character is a mouse, rather than the human character of the original work. As with the book, the film is about a shoemaker's apprenticeship, apprentice who leaves the confines of his ill-tempered master, and sets off on an adventure.
