Mike De Vries
Mike de Vries (, born on 8 December 1958 in Arnsberg, Germany), is a German manager specializing in brands and business development; his positions have included CEO of the :de:Deutschland – Land der Ideen, "Germany – Land of Ideas" national marketing initiative. De Vries was most recently the CEO of the International Football Village for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Career De Vries achieved two university degrees; the first as a fencing master at the :de:Akademie der Fechtkunst Deutschlands, Academy of Fencing of Germany in Essen and Tauberbischofsheim, his second as a graduate sports teacher at the German Sport University Cologne. 2000 Summer Olympics
The 2000 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXVII Olympiad and also known as Sydney 2000 (Dharug: ''Gadigal 2000''), the Millennium Olympic Games or the Games of the New Millennium, was an international multi-sport event held from 15 September to 1 October 2000 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It marked the second time the Summer Olympics were held in Australia, and in the Southern Hemisphere, the first being in Melbourne, in 1956. Franz Anton Beckenbauer (, ; born 11 September 1945) is a German former professional footballer and manager. The 2006 FIFA World Cup, also branded as Germany 2006, was the 18th FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football world championship tournament. It was held from 9 June to 9 July 2006 in Germany, which had won the right to host the event in July 2000. Teams representing 198 national football associations from all six populated continents participated in the qualification process which began in September 2003. Thirty-one teams qualified from this process along with hosts Germany for the finals tournament.
