Michael Thompson (born Michael Wood Thompson, February 11, 1954 in Port Washington, New York) is an American guitarist and songwriter. Thompson is known for his work as a session guitarist during the last 4 decades. He founded the rock group TRW in 2007. Early years Michael Thompson grew up in Port Washington, New York and attended Berklee College of Music for two years, studying with Pat Metheny before leaving to tour and record with a local R&B/funk group called The Ellis Hall Group. After four years with the group, Thompson moved to Los Angeles in the hopes of starting a career as a studio musician, almost immediately getting a touring gig with Joe Cocker. Money was tight and to support himself and his wife Gloria, Thompson supplemented gigs playing on songwriters' publishing demos and sporadic session work with a job as a cab driver until landing a year-long world tour with Cher. Mychel Thompson (born June 1, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball at Pepperdine University. Early life Thompson was born on June 1, 1988, in Los Angeles, California to Mychal and Julie Thompson. His father, Mychal Thompson, was the first overall pick in the 1978 NBA draft and spent his 14-year career playing for the Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs in the NBA and Juvecaserta Basket in Italy. Thompson has a younger brother, Klay, who played college basketball at Washington State University before being drafted in the first round of the 2011 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. Michael J. Thompson (July 22, 1877 – May 31, 1939) was once dean of American football officials, as well as a baseball umpire. He famously officiated the 1903 Carlisle-Harvard football game. He also coached, at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, and at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. In Emmitsburg, he was later a burgess. Michael Wayne Thompson (born September 6, 1949) is an American former right-handed Major League Baseball pitcher who played in the big leagues in 1971 and from 1973 to 1975 for the Washington Senators, St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves. Prior to playing professionally, he attended Ponca City High School in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Thompson's professional career began in 1967, after he was drafted in the third round in that year's draft. He played for the Geneva Senators, going 2–5 with a 3.76 ERA in 10 games started. The following year, he played for the Salisbury Senators, going 7–13 with a 4.27 ERA in 29 games (23 games started). Michael Thompson (born 23 June 1962) is an English former karateka and kickboxer who competed in the cruiserweight and heavyweight division. After a long and distinguished career in Kyokushin, in which he won the British Open four times, the Commonwealth Championships in 1988 and the European Championships in 1991 as well as competing three times in the World Open, Thompson later switched to Seidokaikan and reached the final of the 1994 Seidokaikan Karate World Cup. Michael "Mike" Thompson (b. on June 16, 1977 in Akwesasne, Ontario) is a retired professional box lacrosse player. Thompson played seven seasons in the National Lacrosse League, six with the Buffalo Bandits. He signed with the Bandits on August 18, 2006 to replace Ken Montour as back-up goalie to Steve Dietrich. Thompson took over the starting duties from Dietrich due to injuries during the 2007 season and played well enough to inevitably make Dietrich expendable after the season. In 2008, Montour came back to Buffalo, he and Thompson formed a goalie platoon for the Bandits leading to the franchise's fourth NLL Championship. Thompson would make 39 saves, including one as time expired, as he went the whole way in the 2008 Champion's Cup.
