Mike Richardson (Scottish Cricketer)
Michael Sloan Richardson (born 20 August 1969) is a Scottish former cricketer. Richardson was born at Glasgow in August 1969. He was educated at Hyndland Secondary School, before matriculating to the University of Edinburgh. A club cricketer for West of Scotland and Clydesdale, Richardson made his debut for Scotland against Ireland at Dundee in 1992. He played twice more for Scotland in 1994, making a first-class appearance against Ireland at Glasgow, and a List A one-day appearance against Sussex at Hove Hove is a seaside resort and one of the two main parts of the city of Brighton and Hove, along with Brighton in East Sussex, England. Michael John Richardson (born 4 October 1986) is a South African-born German cricketer. Richardson is a right-handed batsman who fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Port Elizabeth. Richardson made his debut for Durham in a first-class match against Durham MCCU in 2010. Richardson's family has a strong cricketing background. His father, Dave Richardson, played Test cricket for South Africa. His grandfather, John Richardson, uncle Ralph Richardson, and cousin Matthew Richardson have all played first-class cricket. In 2016 he wed Kate. In June 2019, he was called up to Germany's team for the Regional Finals of the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier tournament in Guernsey, replacing Daniel Weston, who broke a finger. Clydesdale Cricket Club
Clydesdale Cricket Club is a sporting club situated at Titwood on the periphery of Pollokshields in the south of Glasgow. History The club was founded in Kinning Park in 1848 by Archibald Campbell. It was formed by members of two previous clubs which played on Glasgow Green, to cater for the burgeoning residential developments south of the river Clyde. It is now the oldest surviving team sports club in Glasgow. On moving to Pollokshields, the club sold its previous Kinning Park ground in 1873 to a newly founded football club called Rangers. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). The 1994 Benson & Hedges Cup was the twenty-third edition of cricket's Benson & Hedges Cup. It was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 26 April and 9 July 1994. The tournament was won, as part of their historic treble of County Championship, Sunday League and Benson & Hedges Cup, by Warwickshire. The County Cricket Ground, known for sponsorship reasons as The 1st Central County Ground, is a cricket venue in Hove, East Sussex, England. The County Ground is the home of Sussex County Cricket Club, where most Sussex home matches since 1872 have been played, although many other grounds in Sussex have been used. Sussex CCC continue to play some of their games away from The County Ground, at either Arundel Castle and Horsham. Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Sussex. Hamilton Crescent
Hamilton Crescent is a cricket ground in the Partick area of Glasgow, Scotland, which is the home of the West of Scotland Cricket Club. Hamilton Crescent hosted the first international football match, between Scotland and England, played on 30 November 1872, which ended in a goalless draw, and was watched by a crowd of 4,000. A plaque on the wall of the clubhouse was placed to commemorate the match in 2002 by Mr John C McGinn, President of the Scottish Football Association. Forthill
Forthill is a cricket ground in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, Scotland. It has been used for cricket since, at the latest, 1884, when Forfarshire played Aberdeenshire there. Scotland first used the ground in 1913 when they played Northamptonshire. The ground staged six first-class matches between 1924 and 1999. The first was in 1924 when Scotland played Ireland. The touring Indians played Scotland in a first-class match there in 1932. Almost twenty years elapsed before first-class cricket returned to Forthill, with Scotland playing Worcestershire in 1951. The ground later played host to the touring New Zealanders in 1978 and Ireland in 1992, before hosting its final first-class match when Scotland played the South Africa Academy.
