Michael McCormack (Australian Politician)
Michael Francis McCormack (born 2 August 1964) is an Australian politician who was leader of the National Party and the 18th deputy prime minister of Australia from February 2018 to June 2021. He was also Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, having previously served as Minister for Defence Personnel and Minister for Veterans' Affairs from 2017 to 2018. McCormack has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2010, representing the Division of Riverina in New South Wales. He was a newspaper editor before entering politics. Michael McCormack (Gaelic Footballer)
Michael McCormack (1943 - 13 January 2002) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a full-back at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Born in Kilross, County Tipperary, McCormack first played competitive football and hurling during his schooling at Abbey CBS. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor teams as a dual player, before later joining the under-21 football and intermediate and senior hurling teams. He made his senior football debut during the 1965 championship. McCormack went on to play a key role over the next few years, and won one National League (Division 2) medal. At club level McCormack was a two-time football championship medallist with University College Cork as well as claiming a hurling championship medal with the college. Michael Joseph McCormack Jr. (June 21, 1930 – November 15, 2013) was an American football player and coach in the National Football League (NFL). He played with the Cleveland Browns from 1954 through 1962 and served as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Colts, and Seattle Seahawks. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1984. Playing career McCormack played college football at University of Kansas and assumed that he would take up a career as a high school coach. He was selected by the New York Yanks in the 1951 NFL Draft, but had to wait until the third round before being taken. After the 1951 season concluded, he was conscripted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. While he was away, the Yanks moved to Dallas and became the Texans, which folded after just one season. Claude Gilbert McCormack (December 14, 1921 – November 7, 2020) was an American politician, who served as U.S. Representative from the State of Washington's Fourth Congressional District from 1971 to 1981. He was a Democrat. Biography McCormack was born on December 14, 1921 at Basil, Ohio (now part of Baltimore, Ohio); his parents were of Scots-Irish and English descent. As a young man he attended schools in Toledo, Ohio, graduating from Waite High School. He began college at the University of Toledo in 1939, worked for two years, and then entered military service in 1943. He attended OCS and was commissioned as second lieutenant, parachute infantry, United States Army, with occupation duty in Germany until 1946, at which time he was discharged as first lieutenant. Mike McCormack (born 1965) is an Irish novelist and short-story writer. He has published two collections of short stories, '' Getting It In the Head'' and '' Forensic Songs'' and three novels - '' Crowe's Requiem,'' '' Notes from a Coma'' and ''Solar Bones''. He has been described as "a disgracefully neglected writer". McCormack was born in London. He grew up on a farm in Louisburgh, County Mayo, and studied English and philosophy at UCG. In 1996, he was awarded the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature. In 1998, ''Getting It In the Head'' was voted a ''New York Times'' Notable Book of the Year. A story from the collection, "The Terms", was adapted into an award-winning short film directed by Johnny O'Reilly.
