Mike Kapur
Mike Kapur, (born 12 December 1962) is the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire. He succeeded Jennifer Gretton, Baroness Gretton in the role on 14 June 2018. Career Kapur is the Founder and Director of Signum Corporate Communications, a Leicestershire Telecommunications Provider. Mike Kapur was appointed a non-executive director at Leicester Royal Infirmary in 1995 and following its merger in 2000 with two other large hospitals, he was retained as Deputy Chairman of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. He is currently Chairman of the National Space Centre in Leicester. Jennifer Gretton, Baroness Gretton
Jennifer Ann Gretton, Baroness Gretton, (born 14 June 1943) is a former Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, serving for over 15 years between 2003 and 2018. Life She was born in St Ives, Cornwall, and married John Gretton, 3rd Baron Gretton. Since her husband's death in 1989, Lady Gretton has run the family's Stapleford Park Estate, in Stapleford, Leicestershire. Gretton has two children: Sarah Margaret Gretton (born 1971) who is married with two children; and John Lysander Gretton, 4th Baron Gretton (born 1975) who is married with one son. She became a Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire in 2001, and was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire on 1 February 2003. She became a Dame of the Order of St John in 2004. Leicester Royal Infirmary
The Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) is a National Health Service hospital in Leicester, England. It is located to the south-west of the city centre. It has an accident and emergency department and is managed by of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. History The hospital was founded by Reverend William Watts as the Leicester Infirmary with 40 beds in 1771. Patients were forced to pay a deposit when they went in; if they went home, the money was repaid; if they died their deposit would be spent on burying them. When first opened, there was no running water, but it did have its own brewery, beer from which was used to treat the patients. By 1808, the infirmary had expanded by 20 beds, to a total of 60 beds. A fever house opened at the infirmary in 1820 and nurses were first trained there in 1870. St Luke's Chapel, which benefited from extensive stained glass windows and memorials, was built in 1887. National Space Centre
The National Space Centre is a museum and educational resource covering the fields of space science and astronomy, along with a space research programme in partnership with the University of Leicester. It is located on the north side of the city in Belgrave, Leicester, England, next to the River Soar. Many of the exhibits, including upright rockets, are housed in a tower with minimal steel supports and a semi-transparent cladding of ETFE 'pillows' which has become one of Leicester's most recognisable landmarks.
