Michael James Jacobs (born October 30, 1980) is an American former professional baseball first baseman. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets, Florida Marlins, Kansas City Royals, and Arizona Diamondbacks. Career Minor Leagues Mike Jacobs graduated from Hilltop High School in Chula Vista and spent one season at Grossmont College in El Cajon, California before being selected by the New York Mets in the 38th round of the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft. Originally signed as a catcher, Jacobs batted .333 with four home runs and 30 runs batted in his first professional season with the Gulf Coast League Mets. Michael Strauss Jacobs (March 17, 1880 – January 1953) was a boxing promoter, arguably the most powerful in the sport from the mid-1930s until his effective retirement in 1946. He was posthumously elected to the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1982, and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. Early life and career Born in New York City in 1880, Strauss was one of 10 children born in New York's Greenwich Village to Jewish immigrants Isaac and Rachel (Strauss). Jacobs came from a poor family and went to work as a boy, selling newspapers and candy on Coney Island excursion boats. Noticing that ticket purchases for the boats were often confusing to prospective passengers, Jacobs began scalping boat tickets. Mike Jacobs (Georgia Politician)
Mike Jacobs (born May 15, 1975) is an American trial judge and former Republican politician from Georgia. Jacobs was appointed to the fifth district of the State Court of DeKalb County by Governor Nathan Deal in 2015 district five, and was unopposed for reelection in 2016 and 2020. In 2018, Jacobs became the first sitting judge in the United States to come out as bisexual. He is also the first openly LGBTQ countywide elected official in DeKalb County history. Prior to his judicial service, Jacobs was a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 80, which included portions of Brookhaven, Georgia in DeKalb County and Sandy Springs, Georgia in Fulton County. WTMJ-TV (channel 4) is a television station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, affiliated with NBC. It is owned by the E. W. Scripps Company alongside Kenosha-licensed Ion Television station WPXE-TV (channel 55). WTMJ-TV's studios are located on Capitol Drive (WIS 190) in Milwaukee (an Art Deco facility that is known as "Radio City", in tribute to the New York complex of the same name), and its transmitter is located approximately north of downtown Milwaukee.
