Michael Reese Douglass (born March 15, 1955) is an American former professional football player who was an outside linebacker for the Green Bay Packers (1978–1985) and the San Diego Chargers (1986) of the National Football League (NFL). Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Most forms of football have a move known as a tackle. The primary purposes of tackling are to dispossess an opponent of the ball, to stop the player from gaining ground towards goal or to stop them from carrying out what they intend. Jordan High School, formerly David Starr Jordan High School, is a public comprehensive four-year high school in Los Angeles. Until October 2020, the school was named for David Starr Jordan, the first president of Stanford University (from 1891 to 1913).
