Mike Brown (Kansas Politician)
Mike Brown is an American politician from Kansas who currently serves as the Chair of the Kansas Republican Party. In 2022, he challenged incumbent Scott Schwab in that year's Kansas Secretary of State election. Early life Brown is a 6th generation Kansan, born and raised in the Kansas City metro area. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School as part of the class of 1987, and attended Johnson County Community College and Kansas State University. Brown has worked in construction since high school, opening his own home building firm in 1990 and working as a general contractor. Political career Early career Brown started his political career volunteering for Tim Shallenburger's unsuccessful 2002 bid for governor, and two local county commissioner campaigns in 2004 and 2008. Kansas Republican Party
The Kansas Republican Party is the state affiliate political party in Kansas of the United States Republican Party. The Kansas Republican Party was organized in May 1859. At the state level, the party is largely split between its moderate and conservative ideological factions, with the moderates often willing to work with Democrats on legislation and other matters. Because of this divide, Kansas is sometimes described as having "three-party politics." In recent years, as the national Republican Party has grown more conservative, some moderates have left the party to become Democrats. Tim Shallenburger
Tim Shallenburger (born March 14, 1954) was Speaker of the Kansas House of Representatives and the Kansas State Treasurer. Biography Shallenburger was raised in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He attended Pittsburg State University and Coffeyville Community College. Career Shallenburger was a member of the House of Representatives from 1987 to 1998, serving as Speaker from 1995 to 1998. Overland Park ( ) is the second-most populous city in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located in Johnson County, Kansas, it is one of four principal cities in the Kansas City metropolitan area and the most populous suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. Scott Joseph Schwab (born July 9, 1972) is an American politician serving as the 32nd Secretary of State of Kansas. He served as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 49th district, from 2009 to 2019. He also served as Speaker ''pro tempore'' of the Kansas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Johnson County is a county in the U.S. state of Kansas, on the border with Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 609,863, making it the most populous county in Kansas. Mike Kuckelman is an American lawyer and politician from Kansas. He served as the chairman of the Kansas Republican Party from February 2019 to February 2023. Early life A Catholic, Kuckelman attended the private Maur Hill Prep School. Kuckelman then attended Washburn University receiving a BBA in accounting in 1986.
