Mikazuki (song)
is the fourth single from Ayaka, released on September 27, 2006. Information "Mikazuki" was originally supposed to be Ayaka's first single but was pushed back. A music video was produced before Ayaka's first single, "I Believe", was even released. The song was used as a commercial song for a chain of Japanese record stores and later used for a drama known as ''@Human''. When the single was released, it became Ayaka's first number-one single. Chart performance In April 2009, when the Recording Industry Association of Japan created the RIAJ Digital Track Chart "Mikazuki" debuted at No. 40. The song charted below the Top 40s until the release of her compilation album '' Ayaka's History 2006–2009'' on September 23, 2009, when it peaked at No. 18. On the ''Billboard'' Japan Hot 100, the song debuted at No. 60. It was certified "platinum" and a million seller by the RIAJ. , known simply as Ayaka, is a female Japanese singer, songwriter and record producer formerly signed to Warner Music Japan. Born in Osaka, she moved to Tokyo to pursue a singing career. She married actor Hiro Mizushima on February 22, 2009. Biography Early life In the summer of 2003, Ayaka began a live performance in her hometown of Osaka. In the spring of 2004, she started going to the music school "Voice", the principal of which is her former music producer Yoshihiko Nishio, in Fukuoka. She commuted between Osaka and Fukuoka every weekend and started to learn a songwriting under the direction of Nishio. She eventually transferred to another high school in Fukuoka. The demo of songs which she produced in "Voice" was soon brought to the music industry and led to her contract with Warner Music Japan. 2006 In January 2006, Ayaka recorded " I Believe" as the opening theme for the Japanese drama ''Rondo''. 143 Records was the record label of producer David Foster. 143 was a sub-label of Warner Records and Atlantic Records. The numbers 1-4-3 are derived from the words "I (1 letter) love (4 letters) you (3 letters)." History When record producer David Foster signed a deal with Warner Bros. in 1995, it enabled him to start 143 Records. Foster gave the responsibility for running the label to manager Brian Avnet. One of the label's first signing was Irish folk-rock band The Corrs. In 1997 Foster and Avnet concluded "logo labels" like 143 were in a "bad spot". Foster sold the label back to Warner and then became senior vice-president at the corporation. On September 20, 2001, Warner Music Group announced it was shutting down the label.
