Sergiu Nicolaescu
Sergiu Florin Nicolaescu (; 13 April 1930 – 3 January 2013) was a Romanian film director, actor and politician. He was best known for his historical films, such as ''Mihai Viteazul'' (1970, released in English both under the equivalent title ''Michael the Brave'' and also as ''The Last Crusade''), '' Dacii'' (1966, ''Les Guerriers''), ''Războiul Independenței'' (1977, ''War of Independence''), as well as for his series of thrillers that take place in the interwar Kingdom of Romania, such as '' Un comisar acuză'' (1973, ''A Police Inspector Calls''). Joanna Pacuła starred in his film ''Ultima noapte de dragoste'' (''The Last Night of Love'') in 1980 before eventually emigrating to the United States, where he went on to a very successful career. Ion Besoiu
Ion Besoiu (; 11 March 1931 – 18 January 2017) was a Romanian actor. Biography He was born in Sibiu in 1931 and graduated the city's Theater and Music Academy. After making his debut in 1957, he played for 16 years at the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu. He then moved to Bucharest, where he played at the Bulandra Theatre. He later served for 12 years as director of this well-known theatre. Besoiu appeared in some of the most important Romanian films from the Communist period: "Furtuna", "Neamul Șoimăreștilor", "Haiducii", "Răscoala", "Mihai Viteazul", "Ciprian Porumbescu", "Păcală", "Blestemul pământului, blestemul iubirii", "Ultima noapte de dragoste", "Lumini și umbre", "Ce neagră e mama", and "Toate pânzele sus!". He died at Fundeni Hospital in Bucharest in 2017; he is buried at the city's Bellu Cemetery. Vladimir Găitan (; 2 February 1947 – 10 November 2020) was a Romanian actor. Born in Suceava, he studied at the Academy of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography in Bucharest, graduating in 1970. Găitan appeared in more than forty films since 1968. He died on 10 November 2020 after fighting against lymphatic cancer, and was buried at Bellu Cemetery Șerban Vodă Cemetery (commonly known as Bellu Cemetery) is the largest and most famous cemetery in Bucharest, Romania. Ion Anestin (actor)
Ion Valentin Anestin (December 24, 1900 – December 6, 1963) was a Romanian graphic artist, engraver, painter, sculptor, journalist and dramatist. Noted as a caricaturist and art critic, he was the father of Ion Nuni Anestin, himself a visual artist and actor. Biography Born in Bucharest to a family originating from Craiova, he was the son of Theodor Anestin, a draftsman employed by the Bucharest Mayor's Office, and the grandson of Ion Anestin, an actor noted for his friendship with the dramatist Ion Luca Caragiale. Following the start of Soviet occupation, the artist was barred from publishing by the censorship apparatus for a five-year period (1944–1949), and ultimately imprisoned. He died soon after his release. Valeria Gagealov (9 December 1931 – 9 February 2021) was a Romanian film, radio, theater, television and voice actress. Biography She was born in Galați, Romania, and studied at the Caragiale Academy of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography with , graduating in 1954. She then worked for many years at the National Theatre Bucharest, where she played Curley's wife in ''Of Mice and Men'' by John Steinbeck, and Sonia in ''Camera de alături'' by Paul Everac. In the early 1950s, she was married to fellow actor Constantin Codrescu, but some strange circumstances involving his mother (who tried to poison Gagealov) led to divorce. Later on she married Andrei Magheru, a diplomat, and then followed him to Paris when he became Romania's ambassador to France in 1990. In 2004, Gagealov was awarded the , Commander rank. Anthony Chinn (1930 – 22 October 2000) was a Guyanese actor based in England who appeared in over 50 films and television series throughout a career which spanned more than four decades. Career and death Chinn was born in Georgetown, Guyana. He made his film début in the United Kingdom in 1957.
