Michèle Jacot (born 5 January 1952) is a French former alpine skier. Born at Le Pont-de-Beauvoisin, she won the Alpine Skiing World Cup of the 1970 season and World Champion in the combined event (1970). , she is the last and only French alpine skier to win the Women's Overall Alpine Skiing World Cup. Alpine skiing, or downhill skiing, is the pastime of sliding down snow-covered slopes on skis with fixed-heel bindings, unlike other types of skiing ( cross-country, Telemark, or ski jumping), which use skis with free-heel bindings. Whether for recreation or for sport, it is typically practiced at ski resorts, which provide such services as ski lifts, artificial snow making, snow grooming, restaurants, and ski patrol. Sugarloaf (formerly Sugarloaf/USA) is a ski area and resort located on Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, western Maine. It is the second largest ski resort east of the Mississippi in terms of skiable area ( after Killington's ) and snowmaking percentage (95%); its continuous vertical drop of is the second longest in New England (after Killington's ). Schruns is a municipality in the Montafon valley (altitude 690 meters), in the Bludenz district of the westernmost Austrian state of Vorarlberg. To the west is the famous Zimba mountain, often called the "Vorarlberger Matterhorn," which is very popular among climbers and hikers.
