The Michigan Wolverines women's tennis team represents the University of Michigan in National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I competition. College women's tennis became a varsity sport at the University of Michigan in 1973. Ronni Bernstein has been the head coach since 2007. Warde Manuel
Warde Joseph Manuel (born May 22, 1968) is an American college athletics administrator and former American football player. He has served as the 12th director of athletics at his alma mater, the University of Michigan, since January 2016. He was the Athletic director, director of athletics at the University of Connecticut from 2012 to 2016 and at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York at Buffalo from 2005 to 2012. He served as associate athletic director at the University of Michigan from 2000 to 2005. Early life and education Manuel played high school football at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans. He was a first team high school All-American. Ronni Reis
Ronni Reis (sometimes spelled Ronnie Reis; also Ronni Reis-Bernstein) (born May 10, 1966) is an American former tennis player. Reis won three gold medals at the 1985 Maccabiah Games in Israel, the doubles bronze medal at the 1986 Goodwill Games, and the doubles gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games. Reis played for the Miami Hurricanes at the University of Miami, where she won the NCAA doubles tournament in 1986 and was named the NCAA Senior Player of the Year in 1988. Biography She attended Miami Sunset High School in Miami, Florida. Reis won the 1984 Florida state singles championship while a senior in high school. Reis won the gold medal, defeating American Jamie Golder, in the women's singles tennis event at the 1985 Maccabiah Games in Israel, when she was 19 years old. Michigan Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines comprise 29 varsity sports teams at the University of Michigan. These teams compete in the NCAA's Division I and in the Big Ten Conference in all sports except women's water polo, which competes in the NCAA inter-divisional Collegiate Water Polo Association. Team colors are maize and blue, though these are different shades of "maize" and "blue" from those used by the university at large. The winged helmet is a recognized icon of Michigan Athletics. In 11 of the previous 20 years (as of the end of 2018–19), Michigan has finished in the top five of the NACDA Directors' Cup, a list compiled by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics that charts institutions' overall success in college sports. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
