Michigan Corners is a hamlet near Scotchtown east of Middletown, Orange County, New York, United States, located at the corner of New York State Route 211 and Goshen Turnpike (Orange County Route 110). There is no sign marking Michigan Corners, although it does appear on local maps. (There was a Michigan Corners Deli nearby, but the business was renamed Scotchtown Deli and Catering in 2007.) According to legend, the hamlet got its name when a local man named Malcolm McLaughlin found himself in debt and skipped town ''circa'' 1825. New York State Route 211
New York State Route 211 (NY 211) is a state highway located entirely within Orange County, New York, in the United States. The western terminus is at the intersection with US 209 located in Cuddebackville, and the eastern terminus is located at Montgomery at NY 17K, where it becomes the main thoroughfare. Through Middletown, it briefly becomes a divided highway with a maximum of five lanes in each direction (a total of ten lanes). It was also through Middletown that the famed "Miracle Mile" was born, which was the beginning of the shopping center frenzy that saw many businesses move from downtown areas of Middletown to the Route 211 Shopping Corridor. Goshen (town), New York
Goshen is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 13,687 at the 2010 census. The town is named after the Biblical Land of Goshen. It contains a village also called Goshen, which is the county seat of Orange County. The town is centrally located in the county. History European settlement began around 1714, although plans for this were made beginning about 1654. The town was established in 1788, after the American Revolutionary War and New York becoming a state. As population increased in the area, in 1830, part of Goshen was divided off to form the new Town of Hamptonburgh. In 1845, another part was used to form the Town of Chester.
