Michigan's 29th Senate District
Michigan's 29th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 29th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Democrat Winnie Brinks since 2019, succeeding Republican Dave Hildenbrand. Geography District 29 encompasses part of Kent County. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 29, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, was based in Grand Rapids, which also covered the surrounding Kent County communities of East Grand Rapids, Lowell, Forest Hills, Cascade Township, Grand Rapids Township, Ada Township, and Caledonia Township. Caledonia Charter Township is a charter township of Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 12,332 at the 2010 census, an increase from 8,964 at the 2000 census. The Henry J is an American automobile built by the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation and named after its chairman, Henry J. Kaiser. Production of six-cylinder models began in their Willow Run factory in Michigan on July 1950, and four-cylinder production started shortly after Labor Day, 1950. The official public introduction was on September 28, 1950. The car was marketed through 1954. Development The Henry J was the idea of Henry J. Zilwaukee is a city in Saginaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The 2020 census places the population at 1,534. The city is adjacent to and was created from Zilwaukee Township. Daniel Johnson (Michigan Politician)
Daniel S. Johnson (1821August 6, 1860) was a Michigan politician. Early life Johnson was born in 1821 in Haverstraw, New York, United States. Career Johnson was a ship lumber dealer in New York City. In 1846, Johnson moved to Michigan with his brother Solomon. From 1847 to 1858, Johnson was the leading lumberman in Saginaw Valley. In 1848, the brothers settled land on the Saginaw River and constructed a sawmill there. They named their settlement "Zilwaukee, Michigan, Zilwaukie" as a way to attract confused settlers in search of Milwaukee. On November 2, 1852, Johnson was elected to the Michigan Senate, where he represented the Michigan's 29th Senate district, 29th district from January 5, 1853 to December 31, 1854.
