Michigan's 106th House of Representatives district (also referred to as Michigan's 106th House district) is a legislative district within the Michigan House of Representatives located in parts of Cheboygan and Oscoda counties, as well as all of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties. Sue Allor
Sue Allor (born December 31, 1954) is an American politician from Michigan. A Republican, Allor has been a member of the Michigan House of Representatives since 2017, elected from District 106. Education Allor holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from University of Detroit Mercy and an MBA from Lawrence Technological College. Career Allor spent six years on the Cheboygan County Commission before being elected to the state House. In 2016, Allor was elected as a Republican to the Michigan House of Representatives from District 106. Allor is the chairperson of Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Environmental Quality. In 2018, Allor was an initial cosponsor of Republican legislation, introduced by Triston Cole, that would limit the ability of Michigan environmental regulators to adopt environmental-protection rules that are stricter than federal standards. Rogers City, Michigan
Rogers City is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Presque Isle County. The city is adjacent to Rogers Township, but is politically independent. Rogers City is located on Lake Huron and is home to two salmon fishing tournaments. The world's largest open-pit limestone quarry, the Port of Calcite, is located within the city limits and is one of the largest shipping ports on the Great Lakes. The freighter, , home port at Rogers City, sank in Lake Michigan on November 18, 1958. 2018 Michigan House Of Representatives Election
An election was held on November 6, 2018 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor and Senate. The primary election was held on August 7, 2018. Republicans retained control of the House, despite losing the popular vote, after a net loss of five seats, winning 58 seats compared to 52 seats for the Democrats. Term-limited members Under the Michigan Constitution, members of the state Senate are able to serve only two four-year terms, and members of the House of Representatives are limited to three two-year terms, some of the toughest term-limit laws in the country. After the 2018 mid-term elections, nearly 70 percent of the state Senate and 20 percent of the state House were forced to leave office because of term-limits. Presque Isle, Michigan
Presque Isle Township is a civil township of Presque Isle County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,656 at the 2010 census. Communities Presque Isle is a small unincorporated community located within Presque Isle Township along Lake Huron. It is approximately 15 miles north of Alpena, and 15 miles south of Rogers City. The community and the township are named for Presque Isle (literally, "almost an island") which is French for " peninsula". This peninsula, for which the entire county is named, sits in the northern part of the township and is home to two historic lighthouses. Only one narrow strip of land, a tombolo, at the southern end of the peninsula connects it to the mainland. Peter A. Pettalia (August 9, 1955 – September 12, 2016) was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, first elected in 2010 and re-elected to second and third terms in 2012 and 2014. Matthew Gillard (born March 9, 1973) is a politician from the U.S. state of Michigan. He is a Democrat. The Michigan Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the state of Michigan. It is based in Lansing. Lavora Barnes is the party's current chair. Andrew Neumann (born 1960) is a Democratic state legislator from Michigan. He served in the Michigan State House of Representatives, representing the 106th District from 2009 to 2010. Alpena ( ') is the only city in and county seat of Alpena County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 10,483 at the 2010 census. Harrisville is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Alcona County. The population was 493 at the 2010 census, making Harrisville the sixth-smallest city by population in the state of Michigan.
