Micheal John O'Brien (born August 21, 1950) is a Canadian commercial pilot, humanitarian leader, journalist, musician, and politician, who was declared a winner on election night, November 21, 1988, and despite recounts that went back and forth, he was sworn into office as ''elected'' and made his Maiden Speech in the House of Commons of Canada on December 23, 1988. John C. Turmel (born February 22, 1951) is a perennial candidate for election in Canada, and according to the ''Guinness World Records'' holds the records for the most elections contested and for the most elections lost, having contested 105 elections and lost 104. He served as the longtime Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament for Yukon, and was Leader of the Opposition and the third deputy prime minister. York North was a federal riding in Ontario, Canada, that was in the House of Commons of Canada from Confederation in 1867 until 2004. The federal riding was eliminated in 2003 when it was redistributed between two new ridings of Newmarket—Aurora and York—Simcoe. Another small section was incorporated into Oak Ridges—Markham.
