Michael Winter (professor)
David Michael Winter, (born 10 November 1955) is an expert on rural politics and economics. Early life He was born in Launceston, Cornwall in 1955, the son of David Winter (d.1989) a farmer and lecturer and his wife Jeanne Nanette. His early life was spent firstly in Devon, where the family farmed near Beaworthy before moving to Hampshire where his father lectured at Sparsholt College. He was educated at Peter Symonds College then at Wye College, Kent. He received a PhD from the Open University in 1988. Career He is Director of the Centre for Rural Policy Research at the University of Exeter, UK. He is also a board member of the Commission for Rural Communities, formerly the Countryside Agency, and was formerly a member of the Governing Body of IGER (The Institute for Grassland and Environment Research). Michael Winter (born May 20, 1976 in Munich) is a German sport shooter. Winter represented Germany at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for all three rifle shooting events. In his first event, 10 m air rifle, Winter was able to hit a total of 588 points within six attempts, finishing thirty-sixth in the qualifying rounds. Michael Winter (born 1965) is a Canadian writer, the author of five novels and three collections of short stories. Life and career Michael Winter was born in 1965 in Jarrow, England. Mike Winter
Mike Winter is a retired Austrian-American soccer goalkeeper who spent four seasons in the North American Soccer League and earned six caps with the United States national team. NASL Winter was born in Austria. In 1972, the St. Louis Stars of the North American Soccer League (NASL) selected Winter as their goalkeeper. That year, he had the second lowest goals against average (GAA) in the league, behind Kenny Cooper. That achievement led to his selection as the 1972 NASL Rookie of the Year. Winter was the goalie of record on February 13, 1974, when the visiting Red Army team dismantled the Stars, 11–4, in an indoor match before 12,241 fans at the St. Louis Arena. It was the last of three Red Army indoor matches on the tour. Winter spent the 1973 and 1974 seasons with the Stars before the Chicago Sting selected him in the 1975 NASL Expansion Draft.
