Michael Scott (rugby League)
Michael "Mick"/"Mike" Scott ( – 1968) was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He played at representative level for England, and at club level for Hull FC and Rochdale Hornets as a , or , i.e. number 8 or 10, or, 11 or 12, during the era of contested scrums, and was captain of Hull during the 1955–56 season and 1956–57 season, and deputised in the 1962–63 season as Johnny Whiteley missed entire season through injury. Maine Road was a football stadium in Moss Side, Manchester, England, that was home to Manchester City F.C. from 1923 to 2003. It hosted FA Cup semi-finals, the Charity Shield, a League Cup final and England matches. Wakefield Trinity is a professional rugby league club in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, that plays in the Super League. One of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895, between 1999 and 2016 the club was known as Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. The club has played at Belle Vue Stadium in Wakefield since 1895 and has rivalries with Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers. The 1958–59 Northern Rugby Football League season was the 64th season of rugby league football. Thirty clubs from across Northern England competed for the Championship, culminating in a final between St. Helens and Hunslet. Season summary St. Helens won their third Championship when they beat Hunslet 44-22 in the Championship Final. They had also finished the regular season as the league leaders. The Challenge Cup winners were Wigan who beat Hull F.C. 30-13 in the final. Wigan won the Lancashire League, and Wakefield Trinity won the Yorkshire League. Workington Town R.L.F.C. is a semi-professional rugby league club playing in Workington in west Cumbria. Their stadium is Derwent Park, which they share with Workington Comets, a speedway team. They became Rugby League Champions in 1951 and also won the Challenge Cup in 1952. Their nickname is simply 'Town', though they are sometimes referred to as 'Worky' by fans of other teams.
