Michael O'Reilly (hunger Striker)
The 1920 Cork hunger strike began on 11 August 1920, when 65 men interned without trial in Cork County Gaol went on hunger strike, demanding release from prison, and reinstatement of their status as political prisoners. The following day, they were joined by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Terence MacSwiney. A week into the hunger strike, all but 11 of the hunger strikers were released or deported to prison in England, with MacSwiney being among the latter. Michael O'Reilly (born 30 March 1993) is an Irish amateur boxer from Portlaoise. Career O'Reilly is part of Portlaoise Boxing Club. He competes at middleweight. O'Reilly's first major international tournament was the 2015 European Games in Baku, where he won the gold medal by beating local favourite Xaybula Musalov in the final. That qualified O'Reilly for the 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships where he won bronze. Michael O'Reilly (born circa 1690, died 1758) was an Irish prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Derry from 1739 to 1749 and Archbishop of Armagh from 1749 to 1758., ''The Episcopal Succession in England, Scotland and Ireland, volume 1'', p. 230 and 320., ''Handbook of British Chronology'', p. 416. Born in County Cavan, he studied theology in Paris and was ordained in 1710. He served as parish priest in cavan. He was Rector of Drogheda, and was recommended as the Bishop of Derry by James Francis Edward Stuart on 10 April 1739., ''The Episcopal Succession in England, Scotland and Ireland, volume 1'', p. 320.
