Michael O'Halloran (Clare Hurler)
Michael O'Halloran (born 1971) is an Irish former hurler who played for Clare SHC club Sixmilebridge and at inter-county level with the Clare senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a corner-back. Career O'Halloran first came to hurling prominence as a schoolboy with St. Patrick's Comprehensive School in Shannon. He was a substitute on the school team that was beaten by St. Flannan's College in the final of the Harty Cup in 1989. O'Halloran simultaneously progressed through the various grades at club level with Sixmilebridge before eventually joining the senior team. He was at right corner-back when the club won the All-Ireland Club Championship in 1996. O'Halloran first appeared on the inter-county scene when he earned a call-up to the Clare under-21 hurling team in 1992, however, he left the panel before the start of the championship. Sixmilebridge GAA
Sixmilebridge is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Sixmilebridge, County Clare, Ireland. History Sixmilebridge GAA Club was founded in 1904. The first recorded matches were at junior hurling and football level against Newmarket-on-Fergus with the hurlers winning and the footballers losing 2–07 to 0–02. The first recorded championship success was in 1940. Kilkishen were defeated in the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship by Newmarket-on-Fergus. A further ten years elapsed before Sixmilebridge won the Clare Junior A Hurling Championship. In 1951 they won the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship beating Ennis Dalcassians in the final. The following year the Bridge reached the county senior final only to be beaten by Scariff. In 1954 Sixmilebridge won their first ever senior trophy winning the Clare Cup against Newmarket-on-Fergus on a scoreline of 4-06 to 2-06. The Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster GAA, Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Sixmilebridge Hurlers
Sixmilebridge (), is a large village in County Clare, Ireland. Located midway between Ennis and Limerick city, the village is a short distance away from the main N18 road. Sixmilebridge partly serves as a dormitory village for workers in the Limerick city, Ennis and Shannon region, with a number of modern housing developments having been built to accommodate demand. History Evidence of prehistorical settlement in the area dates to the Bronze Age, and a number of ringforts, mounds, enclosures and wedge tombs are located in the parish. In antiquity, the name of the village was Cappagh (that name still present in local townlands), chiefly on the west side of the river, and Ballyarilla on the east. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship of 1998 (known for sponsorship reasons as the Guinness Hurling Championship 1998) was the 112th staging of Ireland's premier hurling competition. Offaly won the championship, beating Kilkenny 2–16 to 1–13 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. Format 1998 was the second year that the controversial "back door" or qualifier system was used in the All-Ireland Championship.
