Michael Noonan (Australian Writer)
Michael John Noonan (19 September 1921, in Sumner, near Christchurch, New Zealand – 4 March 2000, in Brisbane) was an Australian / New Zealand novelist and radio script writer. He also created the Australian TV series ''Riptide''. Noonan served with the Second Australian Imperial Force in New Guinea during World War II. He moved to England in 1957 but returned frequently to Australia and returned there to live in Brisbane in 1979. Noonan was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 1998 Australia Day Honours for "service to the arts as an author of numerous novels, works of non-fiction, television scripts and plays". The beach, his favourite place, inspired most of his books. He spent the last years of his life living in Queensland, Australia. IN 1993 he married Jan Pearce (d. 2010). Michael Noonan (September 12, 1947 – February 23, 2009), was an American linguist specializing in functional and typological linguistics. He graduated from UCLA with a PhD in Linguistics in 1981. The novel is a story of a man named Michael K, who makes an arduous journey from Cape Town to his mother's rural birthplace, amid a fictitious civil war during the apartheid era, in the 1970-80s. Plot summary The novel is split into three parts. The novel begins with Michael K, a poor man with a cleft lip who has spent his childhood in institutions and works as a gardener in Cape Town. Michael Noonan (born 21 May 1943) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as Minister for Finance from 2011 to 2017, Leader of the Opposition and Leader of Fine Gael from 2001 to 2002, Minister for Health from 1994 to 1997, Minister for Industry and Commerce from 1986 to 1987, Minister for Energy from January 1987 to March 1987 and Minister for Justice from 1982 to 1986. Mike Noonan
Michael Noonan (June 30, 1961) is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the American Indoor Soccer Association and is currently the head coach of the Clemson University men's soccer team. Playing career Noonan attended Middlebury College, playing on the men's soccer team from 1979 to 1982. He was a 1981 and 1982 Division III NCAA First Team All American. Noonan played for the Louisville Thunder in the American Indoor Soccer Association. In 1986, he signed with the Fort Wayne Flames where he spent two seasons. In 2017, Noonan was inducted into the Middlebury College Athletics Hall of Fame for his playing time there. Coaching career In 1989, Noonan was hired as head coach of the Wheaton College men's soccer team. The team had a 4–11–0 record his first season, but he took them to a 12–5–1 record his second season. Vice Admiral Michael Joseph Noonan, (born 13 December 1966) is a retired senior officer of the Royal Australian Navy, who served as Chief of Navy from 6 July 2018 to 6 July 2022. He previously served as Commander Border Protection Command from 2013 to 2015 and Deputy Chief of Navy from 2016 to 2018.
