Michael Søren Madsen (born September 25, 1957) is an American actor. He has starred in many films and television series, frequently collaborating with director Quentin Tarantino, most famously in the latter's debut film ''Reservoir Dogs'' (1992). Early life Madsen was born on September 25, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois. His mother, Elaine (née Melson; born 1932), was a filmmaker and author. His father, Calvin Christian Madsen (1927–2015), was a World War II Navy veteran and a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department. His parents divorced in the 1960s, and his mother left the financial world to pursue a career in the arts, encouraged by film critic Roger Ebert. His siblings are Cheryl Madsen, an entrepreneur, and Academy Award nominee Virginia Madsen. Madsen's paternal grandparents were Danish, while his mother is of English, German, Irish, Native American and Scottish ancestry. Michael Johannes Madsen (born 26 March 1958 in Copenhagen, Hovedstaden) is a retired male light-heavyweight boxer from Denmark, who represented his native country at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. There he was eliminated in the second round by Cuba's Ricardo Rojas on points (1-4) after having defeated Csaba Kuzma (Hungary) in the first round. Michael Madsen (born 20 November 1980) is a Danish former professional ice hockey goaltender. Career Madsen has served as backup goaltender to Peter Hirsch on the Danish national team in several World Championships, as well as several Danish teams in regular season play. Michael Madsen (born 24 January 1974) is a Danish retired footballer who most prominently played professionally for Italian club AS Bari and VfL Wolfsburg in Germany. He was most recently the manager of Brønshøj Boldklub. Biography Madsen started his career at BK Avarta in the secondary Danish 1st Division league, where he won the 1994 ''Danish 1st Division Revelation of the Year'' award. He was introduced to the top-flight Danish Superliga championship, when he was brought to newly promoted club Akademisk Boldklub (AB) in June 1996. Under manager Christian Andersen, AB finished fifth in the 1997–98 Superliga season, with Madsen on the left flank, combining well with teammate Peter Knudsen in central midfield. In June 1998, Madsen and Peter Knudsen were both brought to Italian club AS Bari in a combined transfer deal worth DKK 15 million. ''Into Eternity'' is a 2010 Danish documentary film directed by Michael Madsen, released in 2010. It follows the construction of the Onkalo waste repository at the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant on the island of Olkiluoto, Finland. Director Michael Madsen questions Onkalo's intended eternal existence, addressing an audience in the remote future. ''Into Eternity'' raises the question of the authorities' responsibility of ensuring compliance with relatively new safety criteria legislation and the principles at the core of nuclear waste management. When shown on the British More4 digital television channel on 26 April 2011, the name ''Nuclear Eternity'' was used.
