Michael Kavanagh
Michael John Kavanagh (born 6 April 1976) is an Irish former hurler who played as a right corner-back at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Freshford, County Kilkenny, Kavanagh first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior team during the 1998 championship. Kavanagh immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won seven All-Ireland medals, ten Leinster medals and five National League medals on the field of play. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Kavanagh won two Railway Cup medals. Mike Kavanagh
Michael Lowther Kavanagh is a retired Church of England priest who was the Chaplain-General of Prisons (and Archdeacon of Prisons). Early life and education Kavanagh was educated at the University of York and the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield. Ordained ministry Kavanagh was ordained deacon in 1987 and priest in 1988. After curacies in Boston Spa and Clifford he was Vicar of Beverley from 1991 to 1997; serving additionally as its Rural Dean from 1995 to 1997. He was Domestic Chaplain to David Hope, Archbishop of York, from 1997 to 2005. He was a prison chaplain at Full Sutton from 2005 to 2008 and Anglican Advisor to the prison service before becoming its head in 2013. Micky Kavanagh
Michael Kavanagh (31 December 1927 – 29 November 2016) was an Irish professional footballer who played as an outside left or inside forward in the Football League for Brighton & Hove Albion. Life and career Kavanagh was born in 1927 in Dublin, and attended St Laurence O'Toole School, where Gaelic games were played but association football was not. He began his youthful football career with Stella Maris, Johnville and Bohemians, and as a 16-year-old, went to England for what proved a lengthy and ultimately unsuccessful trial with Hull City. He returned to Dublin junior football, but another English trial in early 1948 led to a contract with Brighton & Hove Albion. He made his debut in November of that year, made 12 Football League Third Division South appearances in the 1948–49 season, and a further 14 in 1949–50.
