Michael Glover (Kansas Politician)
Michael George Glover (born July 21, 1947) is an American former politician. Glover was originally elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 1972 while attending law school. He served for eight years before resigning during the 1980 legislative term. During his time in the legislature, Glover was most well-known for spearheading a bill to lower penalties for possession of marijuana. The bill passed the state House in 1977 on a vote of 65 to 60, but was defeated in the Kansas State Senate after Glover admitted to smoking marijuana himself regularly. After leaving the state legislature, Glover worked as an attorney and prosecutor in Lawrence, Kansas. In the mid-1980s, he moved to California, where he ran for the California State Assembly in 2006; in that election, he was defeated by incumbent Republican Chuck DeVore Charles S. Betty Jo Charlton
Betty Jo Charlton (June 15, 1923 – July 22, 2014) was an American politician. Born in Reno County, Kansas, Charlton went to the University of Kansas. She then worked in the Charlton Insurance Agency where she meet her husband. Charlton served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1980 until 1994 as a Democrat; she was originally appointed in 1980 to replace Michael Glover, who resigned his seat, and then was re-elected in her own right. Chuck DeVore
Charles S. "Chuck" DeVore (born May 20, 1962) is an American politician who served as a Republican member of the California State Assembly from 2004 to 2010 when he lived in Irvine and represented the 70th District, which includes portions of Orange County. DeVore was Vice Chair of the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee as well as Vice Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee. He also served on the Budget Committee and was a member of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. After losing a 2010 bid for Republican nomination for the United States Senate, in 2011 DeVore moved to Texas to work for the Texas Public Policy Foundation where he is now Vice President for National Initiatives.
