Michael Connolly (Canadian Politician)
Michael Robert Davies Connolly (born March 3, 1994) is a Canadian politician who was an elected member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Calgary-Hawkwood. Upon election he became the second youngest elected MLA at the age of 21 and one of the first three openly LGBT people elected to the Alberta legislature, alongside caucus colleagues Ricardo Miranda and Estefania Cortes-Vargas. He served as deputy chair of the Standing Committee on Private Bills and as a member of the Standing Committee on Alberta's Economic Future. He previously served as a member of the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices and the Select Special Ethics and Accountability Committee. Connolly did not seek reelection in 2019. Michael P. Connolly (1860–1945) was an Irish Cumann na nGaedheal politician. A merchant and farmer, he was an unsuccessful candidate at the June 1927 general election, but was elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumann na nGaedheal Teachta Dála A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). Biography Born in 1855 in Boston, Massachusetts, Connolly joined the Navy from that state. By August 7, 1876, he was serving as an Ordinary Seaman (rating), ordinary seaman on the . On that day, while ''Plymouth'' was in Halifax Harbor, Nova Scotia, he rescued a civilian from drowning. For this action, he was awarded the Medal of Honor weeks later, on August 24.
