"Mi noche triste" ('My sad night') was the first tango the singer Carlos Gardel recorded. Pascual Contursi wrote the lyrics and Samuel Castriota the music. Tango is a style of music in or time that originated among European and African immigrant populations of Argentina and Uruguay (collectively, the " Rioplatenses"). Carlos Gardel
Carlos Gardel (born Charles Romuald Gardès; 11 December 1890 – 24 June 1935) was a French-born Argentine singer, songwriter, composer and actor, and the most prominent figure in the history of tango. He was one of the most influential interpreters of world popular music in the first half of the 20th century. Gardel is the most famous popular tango singer of all time and is recognized throughout the world. He was notable for his baritone voice and the dramatic phrasing of his lyrics. Pascual Contursi
Pascual Contursi (November 18, 1888 – May 28, 1932) was an Argentine poet, singer, and guitarist. He composed lyrics for 33 tango compositions – many well-known. Life and work Pascual Contursi was born in Chivilcoy, a pampas town, in 1888. His family relocated to Buenos Aires, settling in the San Cristóbal section of the city. He began writing lyrics for his own guitar improvisations while still in his teens, and he moved to nearby Montevideo, Uruguay, a few years later. There, he debuted '' Mi noche triste,'' and befriended the son of the cabaret's owner, tango composer Gerardo Matos Rodríguez. Samuel Castriota
Samuel Castriota (November 2, 1885 – July 8, 1932) was an Argentinian pianist, guitarist and composer. He is the composer of the tango '' Mi noche triste'', among other works. Born in Buenos Aires, Castriota spent his childhood in the nearby town of San Miguel where he learned to play the guitar "by ear" that is without reading music. He returned to Buenos Aires at age 16 and began performing in small ensembles while also learning to play the piano. He won a major prize in the lottery, and moved away from music toward establishing a hairdressing business. Lucas Demare (July 14, 1910 – September 6, 1981) was an Argentine film director, screenwriter, and film producer prominent in the Cinema of Argentina in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Biography At the 1943 Argentine Film Critics Association Awards, Demare won Silver Condor awards for Best Director, Best Film and numerous other awards for ''The Gaucho War'' (1942), a film which is considered by critics in Argentina to be one of the best films in its history. Odeon Records is a record label founded in 1903 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of the International Talking Machine Company in Berlin, Germany.
