Mexico competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's twenty-third appearance at the Summer Olympics. The Mexican Olympic Committee ( es, Comité Olímpico Mexicano, link=no) sent the nation's largest delegation to the Games since 1972, with a total of 124 athletes, 80 men and 44 women, competing across 26 sports. Mexico left Rio de Janeiro with five medals (three silver and two bronze), failing to win a single gold for the first time since the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. The Mexican Olympic Committee () (COM) is the organization that represents Mexico, Mexican athletes in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Pan American Games and the Central American and Caribbean Games. Iván García (diver)
Iván Alejandro García Navarro (born 25 October 1993) is a Mexican diver. He is nicknamed "Pollo" ("Chicken"). He competes in diving and represented Mexico at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He won a silver medal in the 10m Synchronized Platform with his partner Germán Sánchez with a high score of 468.90. In the individual 10m Platform, García came the 7th with a score of 521.65. He won two gold medals in both the individual and synchronized 10m Platform in the 2011 Pan-American Games. Alejandra Valencia Trujillo (born 17 October 1994) is a Mexican archer. Career She won two gold medals the 2011 Pan American Games — women's team and women's individual. She won bronze at 2011 World Archery Youth Championships recurve cadet women's individual. Olympic Games Valencia competed both in London 2012 and in Rio 2016. Paola Milagros Espinosa Sánchez (born 31 July 1986) is a Mexican diver and represented Mexico at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she was her national team's flagbearer, and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In 1987, the Espinosa Sánchez family moved to La Paz from Mexico City with Paola, who was barely nine months old.
