Mentor Township, Cheboygan County, Michigan
Mentor Township is a civil township of Cheboygan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 818 at the 2010 census. Geography Mentor Township is located in southwestern Cheboygan County and is bordered by Emmet County to the west. Interstate 75 passes through the northeast corner of the township but has no exits there. The township includes the unincorporated communities of Rondo, Haakwood, and Wildwood. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and , or 0.44%, is water. The Sturgeon River flows northward through the eastern part of the township, past Haakwood and Rondo. Mentor Township is a civil township of Oscoda County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,143 at the 2010 census. Communities * McKinley is an unincorporated community in the northeast part of the township along the Au Sable River at . The settlement formed around the J. E. Potts Salt & Lumber Company, and a post office named Potts opened on June 3, 1886. The H. M. Loud & Sons Lumber Company bought the mill and transformed the community's resources toward lumbering. Potts became a thriving lumber town, and the post office was renamed McKinley on January 28, 1892. The town's railroad repair shops burned in 1900, and with the depletion of the area's lumber supply, the town economy was never rebuilt. Divide County is a county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,195. Its county seat is Crosby. History On November 8, 1910, election, the voters of Williams County voters determined that the county should be divided into a northern and a southern county. The vote was affirmative; the southern portion retained the Williams name; the newly created county was named "Divide", with Crosby as the seat. The county government was effected on December 9 of that year, and the county's boundaries have remained unchanged since that time. Most histories attribute the county name to its "division" from Williams County, though the county's location on the Laurentian Divide, separating runoff waters between Hudson Bay and Gulf of Mexico, may have been involved.
