Meno
''Meno'' (; grc-gre, Μένων, ''Ménōn'') is a Socratic dialogue by Plato. Meno begins the dialogue by asking Socrates whether virtue is taught, acquired by practice, or comes by nature. In order to determine whether virtue is teachable or not, Socrates tells Meno that they first need to determine what virtue is. When the characters speak of virtue, or rather ''arete'', they refer to virtue in general, rather than particular virtues, such as justice or temperance. The first part of the work showcases Socratic dialectical style; Meno, unable to adequately define virtue, is reduced to confusion or aporia. Socrates suggests that they seek an adequate definition for virtue together. In response, Meno suggests that it is impossible to seek what one does not know, because one will be unable to determine whether one has found it. Meno, Oklahoma
Meno is a town in Major County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 235 at the 2010 census, a 20.5 percent increase from the figure of 195 in 2000. History The town of Meno is named after Mennonite leader Menno Simons, and was founded on October 19, 1899 by David Koehn, who omitted one "n" when filling out the Post Office application form. Jacob A. Wedel served as the first postmaster. Meno was originally part of Woods county, until statehood in 1907, at which time it fell within Major County. Many of the original inhabitants were Mennonites of Polish and Russian Mennonite descent. who established the New Hopedale Mennonite Church. It was the previous home of Oklahoma Bible Academy, originally established in 1911 by the New Hopedale Mennonite Church as Meno Preparatory School, until it was moved to nearby Enid, Oklahoma in 1983. Jenni Meno
Jenni N. Meno (born November 10, 1970 in Westlake, Ohio) is an American former competitive pair skater. With her husband Todd Sand, she is the 1998 World silver medalist, a two-time World bronze medalist (1995, 1996), and a three-time U.S. national champion (1994–96). Career Meno first partnered with Scott Wendland and won two medals at the U.S. Championships. She began skating with her future husband Todd Sand in April 1992. They competed in two Olympics and won three national titles and three medals at the World Figure Skating Championships. Following their amateur career, the pair skated professionally in the Stars on Ice tour for six seasons. Meno also appeared in the 2006 FOX television program " Skating with Celebrities". Joe Meno (born 1974) is an American novelist, writer of short fiction, playwright, and music journalist based in Chicago. Biography After attending Columbia College Chicago, Meno spent time working as a flower delivery truck driver and art therapy teacher at a juvenile detention center. His first novel ''Tender as Hellfire'' was published when he was only 24 and received strong reviews from sources like Library Journal. His short fiction has appeared in literary magazines like ''TriQuarterly'', '' Ninth Letter'', '' Joyland: A hub for short fiction'', and ''Other Voices''. Meno Burg (9 October 1789 – 26 August 1853), also referred to as Judenmajor (''Jew major''), was a Prussian field officer. Burg reached the highest rank ever attained by a Jew in the Prussian Army of the 19th century. However, his military career is also an example of the discrimination which was suffered by Jews who served the Prussian government. Education and civilian career Meno Burg was born into a Jewish family of poor circumstances in Berlin, Margraviate of Brandenburg. Meno ( /ˈmiːnoʊ/; Greek: Mένων, ''Menōn''; c. 423 – c. 400 BC), son of Alexidemus, was an ancient Thessalian political figure. Probably from Pharsalus, he is famous both for the eponymous dialogue written by Plato and his role as one of the generals leading different contingents of Greek mercenaries in Xenophon's ''Anabasis.'' In various first hand accounts, including ''Anabasis,'' his name appears as Menon. Meno's Beginning and Command Meno is reported, by both Xenophon and Plato, to have been attractive and in the bloom of youth, not yet even having a beard, and was quite young at his death.
