Men's Field Hockey Qualifying Tournaments For The 2008 Summer Olympics
The Men's field hockey Qualifying Tournament for the 2008 Summer Olympics were qualification tournaments to determine the final three spots for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The qualifying tournaments, which involved 18 teams divided into three groups, with three separate qualifying tournaments, were held in New Zealand, Chile and Japan, at different times in 2008. Only the winners of each qualifying tournament earned a berth in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Buderim ( ) is an urban centre on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It sits on a mountain which overlooks the southern Sunshine Coast communities. Phillip Ross Burrows (born 25 April 1980 in Wellington) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed ''The Black Sticks'', in January 2000. The striker is New Zealand's top field goal scorer and was named ''2003 New Zealand Player of the Year''. Since his debut, he has competed in over 120 international games for his country and appeared in three Summer Olympics: in 2004 in Athens, in 2008 in Beijing and in 2012 in London. Simon James Law Child (born 16 April 1988) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, ''The Black Sticks'', in 2005 against Malaysia. Personal life Simon Child was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. He has a younger brother, Marcus, who also plays representative hockey for New Zealand. Hayden Shaw
Hayden Jonathan Shaw (born 31 August 1980) is a field hockey player from New Zealand. Shaw was born in Christchurch. He earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed ''The Black Sticks'', in 2002 against Australia. Shaw was often involved in penalty corner routines performing drag flicks. As a result, he was top scorer with 13 goals at the 2002 Commonwealth Games whilst winning a silver medal with the national team. Michael Watt (field Hockey)
Michael Watt (born 13 April 1987) is a former Ireland men's field hockey international. Between 2006 and 2016 Watt made 201 appearances and scored 54 goals for Ireland. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. He also represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At club level, Watt has won the Irish Senior Cup with Instonians, the Scottish Hockey Cup with Grange and the Men's Irish Hockey League with Lisnagarvey. John Jermyn (born 30 March 1982) is a former Ireland men's field hockey international. Between 2002 and 2018 Jermyn made 179 appearances and scored 93 goals for Ireland. He represented Ireland at the 2007 and 2011 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championships and at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2012, Jermyn set the new record as career top goal scorer for Ireland, eventually increasing the record to 93 goals by the end of his career with the national team; his record was not broken until 2018. Blair Robert Hopping (born 12 August 1980 in Pukekohe) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed ''The Black Sticks'', in 2000 against Pakistan. He competed for New Zealand at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
